Worth Trying. Good Films To Watch To Pass The Time Away
1. Supernova 2005 for TV was really disappointing in many ways. Having a well rounded cast to tell the story was perfect and the music was great. You've got Tia Carrere, Peter Fonda, Emma Samms, and Lance Henriksen to name the top names. But then some how or another, the director had to fill the film reel with something unexciting & actually boring. A scientific possibility becomes a terrifying reality when the most powerful force in the universe threatens to hurtle home. An astrophysicist Christopher Richardson (Luke Perry) who discovers that the sun is about to explode, and take the Earth with it, unless he can find a way to prevent it. This 2 part made for TV was a bit slow & confusing much like a film that just takes shots & puts them together for no reason for the first 30 minutes. ... 1. The end of the first part of film ends with a great fireball that breaks up in a 100 pieces & hits the St. Louis Arch. Perry has two small band-aids on his forehead and then a couple of shots later, part one ends. Supernova has been done many times before with better results. The science behind the concept is so ridiculous that they resort to techno-babble in the hopes the audience won't notice. Although the story is supposedly set in Australia, the director & actors don't seem to know this & are confused whether the location should be America, Australia, the UK, or South Africa (the shift in scenery & accents just gets irritating after the first half-hour). While one can't blame the CGI effects for being far from great given the lower budget of the series. What could have saved this film was if the plot was solid & the characters were interesting but it didn't even have that. The characters were so flat and uninspiring that they just left the audience praying that sun would just swallow everything up. The plot was too drawn-out. For those who missed the ending, Luke Perry's math was incorrect because he used a plus instead of a minus in his calculations meaning that the sun was not going to blow up. All of the great minds of America decided it was not wise to check the doomsday predictions of one man, deciding instead to just take his word for it. Perry's mentor who first read his findings & discovered the impending doom of the world did what anyone else would do in the same situation, namely not tell a soul & instead go hang around a beach in S. Africa with a blond local waitress. If you want a disaster film, stick with 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, or Independence Day. Those films all know how to keep you on the edge of your seat. 2. The "Final Days Of Planet Earth" has to be a Guiness Book of World Records holder for the slowest film in history. It's almost as if the idiocy of made-for-TV movies is so astounding, it makes you become catatonic or mindless because of how strange it is in terms of bad writing and winding sub-plots. 3. The Last Sentinel was extre The lead character didn't react very much over the concrete filling incident while a missing person had fallen inside a hole the night before. And, by the way, you don't pour concrete while it's raining. Really a weird show. The bird man was pretty cool. This guy was obsessed with these poor birds. My favorite line in the film was said by him. He said, "I hope you reincarnate as a worm to be eaten by a cheerful little robin." 3. The Last Sentinel was just a huge gun-fight with some stunts. 4. The Black Hole was my favorite on the whole 2 disc set but I've run out of room.

Good acting but movie is poor
Katee Sackhoff (Who plays Starbuck on the TV Series Battlestar Galactica) takes on a supporting role in this Sci-Fi action movie about life after the destruction of most of humanity. Although I really like Sackhoff's acting style, and she did a decent job in this movie, but the movie itself leaves something to be desired. Rent it, its not worth the $20 to buy it. A so so series of movies
I have mixed reviewed about this DVD. On the positive I enjoyed the movies Supernova and The Last Sentinel. Both had good story lines and were fairly well written with some degree of plausibility. Conversely, Black Hole and Final Days left something to be desired. Both these movies were more fantasy that science fiction. The writers could have done a better job as several sceens were so unrealistic that they were a throwback to the early science fiction of the 1950's. For the price the DVD isn't bad but you shouldn't expect too much.I have mixed reviewed about this DVD. On the positive I enjoyed the movies Supernova and The Last Sentinel.
