I've been using this model (Oster 5838) all through this pandemic for all of our bread! I originally purchased it around 20 yrs ago, and I've been making about 3 loaves of bread a week since April 2020. The bread tastes delicious! I'm using recipes from The No-Fuss Bread Machine Cookbook by Michelle Anderson using regular generic all-purpose flour. I'm also using Instant Dry Yeast purchased in bulk (15.88 oz for $10 from an online site). I can't believe what a work horse this bread machine is. I just purchase an additional used one to have as a backup and to make more loaves at a time, but my oldie-but-goodie original is still going strong!!!! Highly recommend. We feel safer making our own bread during the pandemic, and it's very cost effective using: store brand all purpose flour, bulk instant dry yeast, and a little butter or olive oil. (Honestly, I'll2 keep making our own bread even if the pandemic ends because it's easy, cheap, and tastes amazing!) Breads I've made: Crusty Honey, Crusty French, Lovely Oatmeal, Hot Buttered Rum, Traditional Italian, Faux Sour Dough, Rosemary (using ground rosemary instead of fresh), Tomato Herb, Yeasted Pumpkin, and 100% Wheat. (And lot's more to try!!!)Read full review
