    slow setup

Took awhile to get WIFI going at a faster speed than factory setting.. Go to "Radio Setup", pick a channel (don't let it Auto Detect) I picked channel 7, Make sure power level is 100%, Then go down to Select Mode and pick 802.11n Only, I left Select Number of Special Streams as Auto Detect and Aggregation State as MPDU, then Pushed APPLY... Sped things up tremendously....

Older. There are better options in 2018

There are better options as this is an older outdated design. This is pretty much a basic modem and router with WiFi. It's wireless a/b/n 300 mbps max single-band (2.4 ghz) only, and doesn't support MIMO. It slowed way down with my 45 mbps DSL when I had multiple users on it streaming and on the Playstation multiplayer. You do get 4 gigabit ethernet ports in back, and it supports single button WPS. The web interface is nice though. If you want a basic modem/router to go with your slower CenturyLink or other ADSL2 service, this is an okay option, but I recommend getting a modem and a standalone WiFi router with dual-band 2.4/5 ghz and MIMO to get the most out of it. Also, mine made a high-pitch squealing noise I couldn't figure out.

  • The only Centurylink modem worth paying for.

This really isn't a good modem. It's underpowered. When I disabled the wireless to use my real router, the wired speeds out of it went up significantly. It's not super well built. It needs to be rebooted every couple weeks, because it cuts out sometimes at that point. That said, the more expensive available Centurylink modems aren't really much better, and cost significantly more. So if you've gotta get DSL instead of cable or fiber, whether for cost or because it's all that's available, I highly recommend this necessary piece of garbage.

  • Not the greatest modem.

The C1000A modem is far from a good product. Many people document problems with connectivity, poor wifi performance and overheating issues. There is little I can do about using this modem since centurylink has very few alternatives to this device. Since I have to use it I purchased it though I would much rather use a better quality device. This device would be so much better if it had wifi antenna. Currently I use this modem modem in transparent bridging mode and use a an amped router for my wifi.

  • Actiontec Modem/Router Order

So far so good. The hook-up and activation were pretty easy, although I had to contact tech support to help me to get it to link with our Windows XP. Our wi-fi speeds seem to have improved some, although we are only able to upgrade to 5 mbps download. Purchased this one that was 6 months old, but came in near new condition along with the packaging, cables, and manuals.
