Best iPod Apple Ever made
This is the machine that is the best iPod Apple ever made. The iphone interface is horrible compared to this elegant wheel. It accesses a mass of songs almost instantly. Anybody who's ever used one of these KNOWS they are the best of the MP3 player market. Also, this iPod has one of the best DACs Apple ever put into an iPod. They went on the cheap on modern players and the DACs in the recent iPod touches and iPhones don't compare to the iPod Video gen 5. 60GB Black iPod Video Worth the Cost?
A lot of you are wondering if this massive storage device is actually worth the dough. Well.. hard to say since I got mine for free from www.wickeddeals.net But if you are looking for the capability to store an unbelieveable amount of songs, photos, and even video, this device is for you. Pros: I have 7,000 songs, 10 photoshop tutorial videos, and 300 photos on my pod and I still have 52% of the hard drive free. I am trying to so hard to actually fill this thing, but it is difficult! The unit is quite durable. I have dropped it a few times while running with it, and it has only received minor scratches. The screen is very bright and easy to see. The battery time is actually quite good. I think the longest it went for me just playing songs was about 5 hours or so. Cons: This unit ... It is quite bulky on my arm while running. It is too heavy and bulky to leave in my pocket. So I recommend buying the sport sleeve or holding it while working out. The unit does not fit well into the sport sleeve designed for it since the screen is so large. You cannot see the full title or artist name in the song list because the neoprene material covers it up. If you don't need the sport sleeve, then this is not a big deal. The hard drive does have moving parts, so it is easier to break when dropped than a unit that does not have a hard drive. It seems mine has gotten scratches on the front face plate rather easily (sliding it in and out of the protective sleeve). The unit is expensive. Conclusion: If you need loads of storage and don't mind a bulky unit, this thing is great. I love my iPod. And you really can't beat free.

Well, the holidays have come and gone and so have the presents. Included in my stocking were the normal: underwear, socks, t-shirts and the latest iPod video. It's incredible - plays music and video, shows photos and slideshows, tells you where you need to be and why you need to be there, and even has a screen lock so your pesky family members or room mates at college can't listen to your extensive Hanson library downloaded from iTunes or look at that picture of Johnny Damon's new hair cut and shave that you've been fantasizing over. Actually, with the 60 gigs you can hold 15,000 Hanson songs, 25,000 profile shots of Johnny Damon, and 150 hours of your favorite Teletubbie episodes. I love it. The visuals are amazing, but there's one problem: Battery. Everyone seems to be concentrating on ... Well, the holidays have come and gone and so have the presents. I downloaded and watched several music videos and within about an hour, my battery was dead. I suppose the 20 hours that they advertise is minus the backlight. And another question - Where is the charger? I'm sorry I'm so critical, but I own a laptop with 1 USB port occupied by my wireless internet, so I can't charge my battery when I'm working. Overall, I am really impressed with this item as I am with most of Apple's product. If they can make it play video, why can't they make the battery last long enough to watch them? Anywho, good effort Apple. I'm keeping an eye out for the next big step...

iPods continue to grow in capacity and features. 60 gig seems like a LOT of space, but if you get into loading videos and photos on this, you will quickly find it filling up. Soon that old 20 gig doesn't seem quite so big. The video is something you will never look back from if you get addicted to the podcasts, etc. Some of the privately produced ones are quite bad, but addicting. Kind of like watching a gruesome car accident scene. You can't turn away. I can't rate this an excellent, however. This is mostly due to some unfriendly interfaces that are still around on the iPod and iTunes, and the big problem with them being very easily scratched. With as much as they have invested in developing these things, you would think that screen would be made a LOT more durable! The one other drawback ... iPods continue to grow in capacity and features. 60 gig seems like a LOT of space, but if you get into loading videos and photos on this, you will quickly find it filling up. Soon that old 20 gig doesn't seem quite so big. If you are a big exercise nut, and want an MP3 player for exercise, I would strongly recommend something smaller that is flash memory and not a hard drive (no moving parts inside). They will be more durable and much less bulky when working out. Use the big one for regular everyday use, and download your 'workout songs' onto the smaller one for that specific purpose. Gotta go...time to find more pathetic podcasts......
