    While more expensive than similar devices from other sellers, it is worth every penny.

    This is a good product from a good manufacturer. Its predecessor lasted many years. While the speaker and earphone sound are superb, what I really bought it for was dictation accuracy working with Nuance's Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I also purchased a new earphone/microphone headset at the same time as the sound device. The combination has hugely improved dictation accuracy, and I have to stop and make far fewer corrections than in the past. My only caveat with this device is that it is touted as having optical inputs and outputs, but these are easily ignored because it has the standard analog I/O too.

    Great upgrade for music or gaming enthusiast who wants better sound quality

    This sound card is very similar to the one I had on my Dell Laptop. It too was an SB X-Fi sound card, but it was not compatible with the computer I just bought. This card has all the same features, plus it has a remote control and volume control on the card itself, it is able to utilize 5.1 Surround Sound, and it uses USB, so it is will work with nearly any computer. The software has the same features like Crystalizer, EAX Sound Effects, and an equalizer, but it also has a volume control for each of the possible 5 speakers, Smart Volume so that all your MP3's have the same volume, and a speech control to emphasize the singer's voice.
