This, relatively, small camera packs a mighty punch. Crammed in its tiny frame are many features found on much larger bridge and even SLR cameras, allowing you to go from fully automatic to fully manual easily. The 18.2MP CMOS sensor, paired with the 30x optical zoom of the Zeiss lens, gives crystal clear images - even when pushing the zoom to the full 60x with the digital function. I have tried this camera from macro shots of flowers in the garden, to the full extent of the zoom and not been disappointed. The differences from the newer HX95 are minimal, making the lower price of the HX90 even more attractive. I highly recommend this camera - especially if you want a small, but powerful, package for travelling/holidays.

I would describe this as a camera that a keen photographer can make good use of and get very good results, despite its small size. As well as all the 'smart' settings, there is full manual control for those who know how to use them. Though quite why they didn't include RAW files is perhaps a mystery. The viewfinder I think is technology that is 'getting there' for such a compact camera, and is certainly usable and very worthwhile, if a little fiddly to open. At a range of focal lengths the image quality seems to be very impressive from looking at sections across frame at 100%. it may be a bit heavy and bulky perhaps for a shirt pocket, but otherwise it would seem to be a very easy camera to take anywhere.

Bought used for less than Β£100 and in mint condition. Does everything I need. 35mm equivalent lens goes to 720mm which is longer than most will ever need. Produces good clear, sharp and well colour balanced photos. I have to admit that I just transfer them to my iPad so donβt enlarge them too much. Electronic viewfinder is a must. Just try using any camera lcd screen when in bright sunlight and youβll see why. Am very pleased with this camera. Tilting lcd is useful occasionally. Flash works well and gives reasonable results when light levels are low. Natural light is far better of course. The lens is not the fastest at f3.5 at 24mm equivalent but in most situations is fine. Controls are easy to use and if you just shoot in one of the two fully auto modes the vast majority of photos will be spot on. For Β£100 itβs a great buy in my view. I also have a Sony dsc rx100 M3 which is a much more expensive camera but in use thereβs little difference in the results and the long tele lens on the hx90 is great to have.Read full review

It is a camera that gets overlooked, but it is well built and functions beautifully this is my second one, I had an accident with my first one. and I had that one for over five years, it still functions, . Amazingly, compared to the accident it had, but the accident has allowed dust to get into the lens and it shows on the photo. you can photo shop it out. other than that the camera is still working flawlessly showing you how good it was built.. , but I thought, meaning they are becoming hard to get. I would buy another one. it goes everywhere with me sits in my top pocket weather on my mountain bike or riding my motorbike. and the picture quality is superb. So is the video. it is a beautiful, well built with camera.
