    With its many fully tested recipes, this big cookbook features the best ones, which saves the home cook time and misadventure. From America's Test Kitchen and Cook's Illustrated Magazine, this reliable cookbook includes many excellent fish, pork, vegetable, and dessert recipes. This well-organized, classic cookbook will make a practical addition in your home or a welcome shower gift. Colorful photos would have made it even bigger and better, but it is still fully recommended.

  • The Best Recipe 1999

    What a fantastic Book! This is one of the first cookbooks by Cook's Illustrated that I bought and it is still one of my favorites. The recipes are just Great but, what I love most is that they teach you about each recipe. They start each recipe off with at least 1/2 to a full page of information and history about the recipe. This book really jump started me in my expanded knowledge of baking/cooking. I was already a natural at following a recipe and having it turn out nice, but this book started me on my journey for even better skills. It was like taking a cooking class without leaving my home.     This cookbook has it all….tested forwards and backwards. Perfect for beginner and seasoned cooks. Much more expensive at Amazon so shop EBay. There aren’t color photos though only a few b & w and a few illustrations which is a letdown to me but it’s still and an older great cookbook.

    It is a cookbook meant to be read. It is their take on ingredients and classic menus. It was a gift to my wife who is a reader and also a cookbook reader. I think she enjoyed it and frequently mentioned to me where she had different ideas from the authors. But, I feel she was won over by them when they mentioned that the trendy polenta is nothing more than cornmeal mush (which she has always loved).
