    My Kirby Ultimate G Diamond Vacuum Puts My Dyson To Shame

    Purchased mine new back in 2005 after a demonstration on my rugs by a Kirby rep... I was so impressed at what I saw, I went ahead & purchased one for $1200.00 with all the attachments, it still runs as good as the day we purchased it, I have no regrets. This is an American made vacuum with a long history, built like a tank & will run rings around our Dyson. The only thing our Dyson has over the Kirby is that it's lightweight, mostly cheap plastic, like our previous Hoover, their good for quick vacuuming. If you're serious about really deep cleaning or shampooing rugs with professional results (Better than Rug Doctor), I highly recommend the Kirby. You can purchase these used on eBay for a fraction of what I paid and I'm willing to bet you won't find a better vacuum that really does what ...

    Nice Machine

    I struggled whether to rate it a 5 or a 4, and chose 4 only because of the weight. It is heavy, but the drive mechanism makes the weight disappear when you're vacuuming in traditional fashion. When you move the machine... the weight is definitely there. The weight is a double-edged sword, so to speak, as the thing is so substantial it will last forever and can double as a main battle tank or battering ram. The two speed motor is nice, but I had to chuckle because when you use the lower speed, the main light also dims - Kirby probably could have left the light on full bright when the motor is set to a lower speed.     As with all the prior models, the Kirby is loaded with attachments. The suction power of the machine is tremendous, and the techdrive makes the machine easy for even the elderly the propel when the machine is on. When the machine is off, the weight of the machine is quite cumbersome and if you are moving it up stairs, you won't like it. The belt is tricky to attach, and when replacing it, be patient. It is more simple to attach the belt then you think it is. The brushroll bristles are quite soft so it doesn't damage the carpet fibers. If your carpet does not have a pad under it, a Kirby vacuum is not your best option (try a Eureka Sanitaire heavy duty commercial for that) The base of the bag has a tendency to collect some dirt.     The GOOD: The Kirby Ultimate G vacuum is extremely powerful: it will deep clean your carpets and upholstery better than anything on the market (including the so-called "professional" and truck-mounted systems). The semi-dry foam carpet shampooing system is nothing short of fantastic. Results are a thousand times better than can be achieved with any so-called steam cleaning system (e.g., Hoover, Bissell, etc). Construction is rugged and the materials used are very heavy duty. The NOT-SO-GOOD: There are definite convenience trade-offs involved when using this heavy-duty vacuum system.
