Poignant and Enlightening
I imagine that most Americans think of arranged marriages as a thing either of the ancient past, or of some unenlightened culture. This movie will do what great literature and art does - help you (and me) to understand another point of view from the inside. An orthodox Jewish young woman and an (orthodox) Muslim young woman meet each other as they take on their first year of teaching in the public schools of New York City. They bond because they find that they have so much in common(!) They both live in loving educated families and communities which understand marriage as not only a personal preference but also an expression of their religious faith and community. Both sets of parents want their daughters to marry in the faith but also according to love. A tricky combination, but ... People will cry "control freak" but think about this: As our society becomes increasingly void of substantive community, there are sub-communities who experience what we long for (closeness within a group including but larger than the family) and guess what? Many of them are also educated and open-minded. Should we not at least observe and learn what we can from them? I highly recommend this movie to any open-minded person!! Have your teenager see and discuss it together. This is a real gem.

Very engaging
This movie held my interest from beginning to end. The friendship that the two main characters had was absolutely wonderful. They had many things in common despite their religious differences. I highly recommend this movie.

I really enjoyed this movie
I highly recommend that you see this movie! It's a beautifully written and acted story of 2 young religious girls who meet as teachers sharing a classroom, one an orthodox Jew, the other an observant muslim - both who are loyal to their families and at the age where marriage is expected. I saw things from the perspective of each woman and left the movie feeling uplifted and informed.
