Good value if you buy it cheap enough
The blackberry 9000 is a good solid phone. it is on the heavy side and thick by today's standard but the radio is strong so the signal is usually good. The user interface is awkward but one gets familiar with it. I have not had luck getting the WiFi to work; otherwise, everything seems to work as advertised. For $25, one cannot really go wrong.

BlackBerry Bold 9000
The Bold is my first smart phone, having used mobile phones for over 10 years. Rather than list what is already in the specs I will share what I like most and use most on this phone. Mobile Internet: This is a great feature on any smart phone. The screen size and brightness and the easy scroll wheel make navigating sites easy. Also the qwerty keyboard makes it possible to actually type into boxes or searches so as to make the internet accessible.The Bold is my first smart phone, having used mobile phones for over 10 years. Blackberry Bold 9000
It's a bit on the heavy side. IF you are coming from an older BB Curve, then you will notice the gain in weight of the Bold. It's not iPhone and it's not trying to be. It is really suited for the "business" type. Push email is awesome and same with the BBM (Black berry messenger) Of course a Data plan is needed to use those features and that is carrier dependent. Things to look out for this phone is the track-ball that dies prematurely (but is an easy fix) and poor battery life (turn of Wifi when not in use to conserve battery life) All in all I give this a 9 out 10 for a Smart Phone.It's a bit on the heavy side. From Apples to Berries
I gave up my iPhone for a Blackberry Bold, and have not one single regret. I'm glad I used an iPhone for a while because I would have wondered if I'd made the right choice w/the BB. But I'm not a touch-screen, iPhone kinda gal. The Blackberry has more of a learning curve, and I've needed to work with my carrier to get some features tweaked (but that's with any smartphone really). It's been worth it. The BB has all the email, messaging, calendar and other apps (along with sync-age of course) that I needed and in particular the document production features are delightfully accessible and easy to use. Contrary to selling agent's promises, iPhone does NOT have the same accessibility and ease of use compared to iPhone. The BB keyboard though small is surprisingly easy to use, much easier than ... I gave up my iPhone for a Blackberry Bold, and have not one single regret. I'm glad I used an iPhone for a while because I would have wondered if I'd made the right choice w/the BB. (I have to say I missed the tactile feeling of manipulating the phone; I felt like I was groping in the dark sometimes with iPhone.) Gorgeous screen, better call quality than the iPhone. I haven't set up the music feature yet, but there is an app that will allow me to access my iTunes library. The Home menu was better on the iPhone but you take the not-so-great with the great when great far outweighs not-so. The iPhone still is for surfers, gamers, and media/music buffs, not business. All in all this was an excellent and happy choice for me.
