Have used this for years
We live in a Lyme Disease tick area, so I have used this on my cats for years now. Once, some years back, I was neglectful and forgot a monthly application, and one of my cats got Lyme's Disease. Fortunately, having had it my self, I knew how to treat her, and she recovered. But I learned my lesson and have diligently applied it on the first of every month, and we have remained disease-free ever since. That was frightening enough to keep me from screwing up again, and I'm glad to report that I have found Frontline Plus continues to work very well in killing any ticks that attach to the cats, clearly before the ticks can transfer any disease. In addition, I buy the large dog size tubes and then use a syringe to measure out the right amount for each cat, applying it to their scruff area ... Still has Fleas
I have used this product about 8 years ago and it worked really good. This time, not so much. My dog still has fleas. I bathed him before then after he dried applied the frontline. He is acting like they didn't kill any of them. So.... I wish I would of bought something else. After looking up the website, it says that the fleas should be gone within 24 hours. I saw no difference.

Good product if used proparly
This is a good product so long as it's used continously. It does a good job of keeping the fleas and ticks off of my cats and dogs. It works well as a preventative, meaning you don't already have an infestation. If you're infested with fleas, then I'd reccomend using this product as well as treating the environment and maybe getting a capstar from your vet to get rid of the fleas from your pet. There's been some talk of fleas showing some resistance to it in my area and as I said, it has worked well for me so long as I keep them current on it and start it when there are no fleas present. Always works great for ticks. Just a side note-never put flea collars on your pet-they often contain dangerous levels of irritating chemicals (they are completely unregulated) and ... I have been using Frontline Plus for more than 1 1/2 years now. It will help get rid of lice on dogs and cats, in addition to being effective to eliminate fleas and ticks. PLEASE CONSULT YOUR VETERINARIAN PRIOR TO INITIATING ANY NEW FLEA, TICK, LICE, and/or MITES treatments for your pets! My only personal complaint is the way Merial measures it for various pets' weights. A more effective measurement is .5 ml per 10 pounds. This is easily accomplished and will save a person money if he/she buys the large dog size; then empties the vial into a container with a seal to store for later. Small syringes without needles work fine to measure the dosage per pet; then apply it per Frontline Plus instructions. Make Your Pet Happy and Keep the Critters Away
The great thing with this product is that it is NOT absorbed by the skin of the animal and transmitted throughout the animals body. It actually spreads externally over the hair of the animal where you expect to find the fleas and ticks. Another wonderful feature is that it starts killing fleas within 12 to 24 hours. I can pretty much assume (and have checked by using a flea comb) that fleas will be dead in 24 hours. If I see a living flea on the animal in the month following application (as the animal will pick them up outside), I know that the flea will die within the next day or two. I don't madly try to catch the flea. Since it also kills flea larva and eggs, I know that the animal won't be bothered where they sleep by biting fleas. With the cheaper products, I found that I had to still use flea powder regularly to keep the animal from scratching themselves constantly. With respect to ticks, I don't know if we don't have any in our area or this product just works silently eliminating them also. I have never found one on my pet. The best way to treat the animal is to do it on the first day of each month. You don't have much special to remember if you always do it on the first of the month. I skip treatment in the coldest months. My pet likes to stay inside then. If your climate is warmer however, keep a visual of comb your pet with a flea comb in the winter to make sure they have no fleas. Some folks believe that the fleas are somehow "gone" in the winter. Their life cycle slows down but they do not disappear. You don't want your pet starting Spring loaded with little annoying creatures. Hope the above helps somewhat. Jim in So Calif
