I had one for years until it gave up the ghost and by then, they were no longer being sold in stores. So, I turned to eBay and I've purchased two more. I mistakenly thought the first replacement had gone on the fritz and quickly bought another one, only to find that the second one worked when I put in some good batteries. I've dropped one player at least three times with no ill effect...maybe that's the one thing that's bad about them, they are a little tricky to hang onto when you walk around with one that's tethered to headphones or a speaker.

It was difficult to find, because they are no longer being made, although they are the best of their kind, so to speak. I have always hated the design, specifically the location and accessibility of the batteries. Hard to get out! I am happy to have found one that is affordable, even though slightly damaged. I use this for books on CD, so don't know how music quality might be.

This item works perfectly... I knew it would be a great product because I already have one exactly like it that I've had for years and it still works. I needed more of these because I write songs and I still record them on CD's but Sony no longer makes them and the ones that are being sold now by Onn, or Jensen, do not last very long before they start skipping usually after 30 days of using them.
