The Nikon Coolpix S8000 offers a slim design, which allows for exceptional portability. Compact cameras such as the Nikon Coolpix S8000 are great for using with accessories, including additional lenses and other heavy accessory add-on items since the weight of the camera itself is only approximately 6.5 ounces with battery and standard definition memory card. Using digital cameras to capture in all types of lighting is important to amateur and professional photographers alike, and the Nikon Coolpix S8000 offers this by providing a powerfully advanced flash system for all types of lighting, an extra-low dispersion glass lens for the clearest images, and a 3-inch high-resolution liquid crystal display monitor for reviewing and editing shows and footage. This monitor also allows a mode for navigating the menu. The Nikon Coolpix S8000 digital camera takes photographs as well as high definition movies with stereo sound, all saved on memory cards for easy storage, organization, and access. High definition multimedia interface output allows you to share pictures or videos with friends or family easily. Furthermore, the Nikon Coolpix S8000 digital camera has 16 distinct scene modes to help you adapt to a variety of settings and make sure that you get the most detail into your photographs. This digital camera also features 4x anti-blur, which will automatically counter blurred images in four different ways. The Vibration Reduction Lens-Shift mode will help with image stabilization by reducing the effect of camera shake. This advanced image stabilization feature also offers compensation equivalent to an increase in shutter speed of roughly three stops. High International Organization of Standardization sensitivity reduces the risk of blurred images with fast-moving subjects or in low light. The high International Organization of Standardization mode is available up to 3200 at full size. Advanced motion detection will compensate for movement in either the camera itself or the subject of the picture. Best Shot Selector is an auto feature that automatically selects the sharpest of up to ten sequential shots. There are more advanced auto features in the smart portrait system. The smile timer results in shots taken whenever the subject smiles. A mode called blink proof alerts you when someone has his or her eyes closed. You can use skin softening to adjust uneven skin tones on people’s faces for smoother looking skin without having to do editing to the photo after the fact. Advanced face priority auto focus with in-camera red-eye fix allows you to quickly detect and focus accurately on up to twelve faces in the frame. This mode also corrects red eye due to flash the instant you take the shot. The Nikon Coolpix S8000 battery has impressive specs, including a battery life of approximately 210 shots with EN-EL12 battery. The Nikon Coolpix S8000 camera is lightweight and has great features for amateur and professional photographers.

    You'll Shutter At This Stellar Camera!

    When I first decided to purchase a NEW camera that could also record videos way back in 2010, I researched quite a bit before finally landing with this make and model! It had served me well for nearly a full decade when it finally failed me due to an unknown cause just before Christmas of that year. As providence would have it, I searched on eBay for the exact same make and model of camera as the one that got damaged and lo and behold, a replacement was found and purchased! I just LOVE this easy to use point and shoot' camera from Nikon! I can't say enough about it! It takes great photos and videos too!     Nikon Coolpiz S8000 camera, Cool Camera.

    I just wanted to update my aging Casio ex-z500 camera, which by the way is still a great camera. I came across the Nikon S8000 and S8100 cameras. Looking online, I found these Nikon S8000 refurbished for much less than in the stores. After checking into them and the company selling the factory refurbs, I ordered one for my Christmas. My camera came and after finding a small problem, was quickly replaced with the appoligies from the company I ordered it from. Now, I am still finding what all the many features do on this camera, the zoom lense, low light features, sport sequence photos, smart portrait and more, all being in a non-cluttered, easy to use format. The S8000 takes great, super clear photos that you can also alter, in camera. Though being just alittle larger than my older ...

    Nice Camera for pocket size.

    Pretty near 5 stars. Takes great close ups. But a few little things could have been improved upon with this first model of the S8000. Your left hand/fingers get into the way of the flash pop up. And A biggy is they expect you to charge the batteries in the camera...So that means your camera can be out of use for 2-4 hours or more if you have a few extra batteries to charge after a day of taking pic's. No good. We picked up an external charger for under 6 bucks including shipping off of Amazon. (Same Charger goes from between 6-20 with shipping so check around carefully.) I don't understand why the other models new in this series with less pixels and features and zoom power would sell for almost or as much as this one does. Unless the size of the camera is critical this one is great. Now we ...

    perfect for the beginner or average user,great photos.

    Great unit for the average point-and-shoot-person. easy to use and operate. NO MANUAL MODE!,so dont expect to customize your photo. HD is only 780 NOT 1080! DIGITAL ONLY for zooming while video recording. Im my opinion,this is a great "pocket" camera for taking that spur of the moment photo,but that is all. for it's age the features are very "behind the times"
