I bought this camera for work as an art teacher to photograph demonstration art that I produce for my classes. While the camera is small and lightweight and fits easily in my case, it produces unexpectedly soft photos. I expected better from Nikon, even in a low end camera. This doesn't seem to match up to Canon's cameras of a similar size and price point. The camera does have a range of good features and special shooting options, making it great for a pocket camera for casual family pics, as long as you're not obsessive about sharpness. It is out of production at this point, apparently, but if you can find one still for around $50, as I did, it would be a great gift, especially for a child's first real camera. I would recommend it for this kind of use, but not for anything where photo quality matters.Read full review
New battery from Battery Chums: $16. New memory card, 8gb, on Ebay: $5 Used Nikon camera: $16. Total cost: $37. Adopt A Family Christmas Gift: PRICELESS. Pictures are excellent quality. Used camera, so it came with some candid photos of previous owner. :)
I had seen negative reviews on this model prior to buying it This is my third Nikon point and shoot camera and it did not disapoint me.(the other 2 still work fine) These other people must have had either defective units or cannot read the instruction manual? I use this items several times a week with no problems. Yes the Nikon menu is a little different but not impossible I love this little camera
