Item was not as described but that was obvious from the listing itself anyway, so my expectations when making the purchase were basically met. My only real issue was that the stylus was sticky for some reason and its in-device storage slot was a pain to get clean. (I technically still can't be sure that I got everything out of there, but it seems like it's probably fine.)

Got what I paid for. Really new equipment, unfortunately old battery but that have been expected in view of the manufacturing date. It is really a miracle after so many years there is new Palm on the market at all! My old Palm was 15 years old, served me well, after two batteries, three display change and crumbling plastic housing finally gave it up. But it shows the reliability and quality!

Palm TX arrived in great condition. Battery is working great, feels like it might have been replaced ahead of time which is awesome. Got exactly what it said on the tin, even if "new in box" seems a bit of a stretch since it's an unofficial box. It's either new or expertly refurbished in a different box, but either way the condition of this retro device is amazing.

    Palm is Palm

Though the technology is outdated now,old is still gold.Compared to the new fangled devices, the Palm is still a pretty sturdy piece of hardware that still connects and functions like it was supposed to in its time. Yes guaranteed new technology is faster, sleeker and shinier but it has its own woes. If you are looking for a handy device to use as an eBook Reader, browse the web, play music via bluetooth to a connected speaker and still have a long battery life after all this then you will get far with the Palm. Unfortunately the APP market for it is officially shutdown operations but you can still acquire what you need from people like me who love the sturdy form factor and simple APPs that do what they should. Having WiFi and Bluetooth is an added bonus. Of course Memory is limited but ...

If you can avoid obnoxious screen whine, the Tungsten TX is fine.

I picked this up as part of a retro tech kick I've been on. Started with an older Palm OS device, but wanted something with WiFi, which led me here. Positives -Classic Palm resistive touchscreen. Responds to a light touch compared to many Pocket PC devices. -Huge array of Palm OS software/games available if you know how to find that sort of thing. Negatives -Screen whine. Apparently a widespread issue with time, my used model was affected. There's an app (Whinehack) that helps, but it's still pretty annoying and certainly doesn't entice me to use the device. Opening an intense app also stops the hack from working, bringing whine back to full, very annoying volume. -Palm OS really shows its age more than the device. Despite having much more capable hardware than the Handspring Visor Neo ...

  • My review of the Palm TX

Nice large screen so I can see appointments and tasks much easier than on my Z22. It also displays more information, pertaining to calendar and tasks, on the home screen. It does have wifi and I have gotten online when I was near a router. The writing pad is more responsive than the Z22, however, and I find myself adding spaces and periods where I didn't want them. This isn't really a problem with the Palm TX, just that my writing style was set from the Z22. You might not even notice. Syncs with my Outlook with no problems and I like the one button sync tool on the charger which you press instead of going a lot of other motions. I wish the writing pad at the bottom of the screen was a little smaller so more information could be posted on the home screen. I had problems installing ...

  • Great for organization, Good for music, lousy/inhibited internet and email

I wanted to use the TX for 3 reasons. Organization, music player, and emails(internet connectivity). It works Great as an organization tool, and although i'm disappointed the max SD card you can use is a 2G, it works pretty well as music player. Despite recognizing wifi networks, I can't connect (w/wpa security correct). I was able to connect to one wifi network, Email- my yahoo account was correct with in/out servers. the device simply doesn't have the storage and power. Internet browsing- servers and networks simply don't support such an old device anymore, so you are extremely limited if you can connect. Hot Sync is also a piece of crap, so getting anything on the TX without an SD card is very difficult. I haven't been able to install any apps.

  • A great tool. A little dated now, but very useful.

The Palm TX is the end of the line for the PDA that didn't start life as a cellphone. If you are looking for a media player, buy something else. It has limited player potential, generally only MP3. An app purchase will resolve that, but media playback isn't why you should buy this device. The screen is large, but not the resolution of modern TFT display. So don't buy it to watch videos. Now that I have said the cons, let's get to the pros. For all it's shortcomings, the Palm TX was ahead of its time and still proves to be one of my favorite devices to carry with me everyday. The Palm TX with its touch screen, Wireless - WPA capable, and thousands of applications at dataviz, handango and Palm native makes the TX one of the most useful devices I carry. I have only had it a month or ...
