    Shimano Vanford

    The Shimano Vanford is an awesome reel. I got the 2500 for drop shot fishing on a 7ft. medium light rod.It retrieves quickly, cast well and has a really smooth drag allowing for the finer hooks needed for this style of fishing. In using it the few times I've have, this reel has enough guts for some saltwater applications.

    "Great Reel ,,, but one shortcoming"

    Ordered the reel last year to set on a crappie rod with four pound line...when first got on the water it was only then that I noticed it did not have an anti-reverse switch! Rather than trust a drag, I always back reel with a large fish, but had to depend on the drag alone. Fortunately, performed flawlessly on crappie up to almost 16". I LOVE everything about the reel but wish they had left an anti-reverse switch in place. Light, smooth, overall similar to but lighter than my Stradics. If you are not counting on an anti-reverse switch, you will LOVE this reel!

    Smooth Reel

    Very light and very smooth reel!! Excellent for a drift reel for Steelhead!! The 2500 has plenty of drag for big fish !!
