Epson Stylus Photo R300 Inkjet Printer is excellent
The Epson Stylus Photo R300 Inkjet Printer is excellent for printing photos and not too expensive for daily printing. I have used Epson photo stylus printers for years and they are workhorses that provide solid quality. My most recent Epson R200 lasted for about 10 years. The R300 uses 6 Epson T048x ink cartridges that are individually replaceable. It will not print ultimate top quality archival fine art prints, but if you use Epson papers, it will print very high quality, bright photos that are light and smudge resistant. For printing most photos, I prefer it to many of the newer all-in-one printers. It is discontinued and you can often find a working used or refurbished one for about $100 or so.The Epson Stylus Photo R300 Inkjet Printer is excellent for printing photos and not too expensive for daily printing. I wanted to rate this printer as Excellent because it was on of my first true inkjets that printed a phone with the best quality. BUT I found a trick used by epson that made me downgrade the product. Before I get into it, I want you to know I PURCHASED ANOTHER ONE so It can't be that bad. Here we go, I had a R320 Model, that was susposed to be a new model (This one I just got was a R300 which is a later model), anyway, I had not used the printer for several weeks and thought That may be the problem. (WHAT IT DOES), The printer has a setting that either works on time of number of head cleanings or something. I had one that would not start, with the error that the parts had reach their life cycle and needed to be replaced or taken to a repair shop to be reset. IT is a warning that the ... I wanted to rate this printer as Excellent because it was on of my first true inkjets that printed a phone with the best quality. BUT I found a trick used by epson that made me downgrade the product. IT is a warning that the INK PADS were (Maybe) full and could cause spills into the printer or on your prints. What it didn't know is I had been working with some REFILL ink cartridges and had tried to clean the BLACK ink, with NO INK in the color cartridges. (at the time I was only using this printer to print black print, I had a Dye sub printer for color. Anyway the printer did not get used that much and had been setting for months with only black (grayscale) shots of the pages online. Maybe 10 pages a week. (THIS WOULD NOT BE ANYWHERE CLOSE THE A YEAR WORTH OF PRINTING) But when the printer stoped, I went to EBAY and found a great deal and bought this one. Then found a utility program that would reset the printer and give no errors. (it's like the reset key for the ink cartridges). The reason I am telling you all this is I did not know and was not told In any writing that the printer would STOP on it's OWN after so long. I also was not told that a program was out that would reset the error. I was told that the cost (from the site), to repair/replace the ink pads would be more than the value of a new printer, (And) even offered a discount on that purchase if I bought one. Now I am told that is on more that just this model r-320 but on the new one i just got the r-300. But with the utility program you can get around that. Now other than this, this printer is great. First it will allow you to print on inkjet printable cd/dvd's This is a nice option. It has a larger view screen than the r-320 with the ability to be removed if you wish. I has the ability to print to many flash memory cards, and a usb port to connect your camera to, or as I do, connect your usb thumb memory. Many option to print with or without a computer, I use a laptop and design and print away from home, but if you don't have a laptop, you can still print anywhere you can get electric power. BUT ONE THING- IT's A bIG Printer and you will not like to tote it around. But this is a dream on one thing, (I use this) It has a CIS system so I never have to worry about purchase ink from oem's. I installed the ink system and had 1 streak on the first print, second and all after were perfect, only took 1 run to fill the jets with ink. Oh yeah, you have the option of several memory cards but remember only ( 1 ) memory chip can be in the printer at a time. You can also dump files/photos from camera/thumbdrive to desktop/laptop with the printer as the chip reader acts like removable drives (PS you can even use them to transfer files to your device. All in all the option to print on cd's and the Quality of the prints, along with the option to use Bulk ink systems on this printer makes it great, ps you can even edible inks

It can be somewhat prone to occasional print head clogging, so you use the head cleaning protocol to take care of that. You can get a little electronic tool to reset the print cartridges' memory, so that you can use the cartridges until they are truly empty. You have to remember, though, that if that cartridge runs out during printing, the printer will continue on, finishing a worthless print. Eventually, the printer will give a warning of a total failure, due to the number of prints it has made, and the supposition that the excess ink overflow catch basin is full. There are fixes for this on Youtube, which I have done a few ... This printer seems very well built and the fact that it uses six cartridges is a plus for me. This working printer has been a great buy for all the features included!
This used Epson Stylus Photo R300 printer was well packaged and arrived in good condition. It needed external cleaning and after running built-in printer utilities to clean the print-head, the printer test printed well. I have an identical printer which has worked well. The direct CD/DVD printing capability is especially useful. This model (R300M) has a external view monitor but it doesn't work but this seems to be the only problem.This used Epson Stylus Photo R300 printer was well packaged and arrived in good condition.
