THE PROPOSAL could have been a strictly script-by-numbers affair, but hilarious performances by Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds improve this romantic comedy. Publishing powerhouse Margaret Tate (Bullock, TWO WEEKS NOTICE) is used to getting her way. She bullies her ambitious assistant, Andrew Paxton (Reynolds, DEFINITELY, MAYBE), earning the ire of all the underlings at Colden Books in New York City. But Margaret, a native Canadian, finds her career in jeopardy when she is denied a visa and learns she will be sent northward. She forces Andrew to become her fiancé, but she’ll have to take a trip home to Alaska with him to prove to U.S. Immigration that their impending union is genuine. What ensues is a combination of GREEN CARD, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA, and GREEN ACRES, with the hell-in-heels boss trying to fake a romance with her assistant as she struggles to survive as a city girl in the country. However, THE PROPOSAL proves to be more than the sum of its parts; Bullock has been one of Julia Roberts’s successors to the America’s-sweetheart crown since she starred in SPEED, but this comedy has her challenging her image with hilarious ease. Reynolds--who could be just window-dressing with his good looks and easy charm--is an excellent foil who is just as adept with sarcasm as he is with a smile. The two stars are supported by an impressive cast, including Betty White as Andrew’s scheming 90-year-old grandmother, Craig T. Nelson as his disappointed father, and THE OFFICE’s Oscar Nunez as an ubiquitous resident of his hometown. THE PROPOSAL may offer few surprises in the way of plot, but the on-screen talent keeps the film feeling fresh.

I purchased three 4K’s with slips and all three had shipping charges of $4.13 a piece.     Great, Cute Romantic Comedy

    This is such a great, cute Romantic Comedy. Both actors are fantastic, and I love a bit of "Risque" in my movies, so this fits the bill even in that way.

    A lot of laughing over this comedy, very funny movie

    Sandra Bullock (Miss Congeniality and many more) stars with Ryan Reynolds (Definitely, Maybe + More). Bullock is Margaret, the hard nosed editor at a book publishing house and Reynolds is Andrew, her executive assistant (actually her 24 hour get me what I want man). When Margaret is threatened with deportation back to her home country of Canada she concocts a scheme to get married to Andrew so she can stay in the US and save her job. To get andrew to agree to this, she threatens him (actually blackmails is a better word) and finally he agrees to go along with it. The plot unfolds from there as the young couple head off to Alaska to meet Andrews parents and celebrate his grandmothers 90th birthday. And here we have the best part of the entire movie.     The Proposal Blu Ray ''

    As far as the Blu Ray picture goes, it's a pretty good transfer, lots of outdoor scenes that look at though you are looking out a window. Sound is good too, but not too much rear speaker action. This is a pretty good romantic comedy that works because of it's stars. Bullock plays her role very well and it's fun watching her let her emotional side come out. Although the ending is predictable, it's enjoyable taking the journey. Although more of a "chick flick", I found myself smiling along side my wife. If you are in the mood for a good old fashioned romantic comedy, in Blu Ray, then get this one. It won't disappoint.

    It seemed like a good idea at the time.

    I have not used or seen the movie. I bought it as a gift for my daughter. It is one she likes and watches over and over. I bought it because it was a good price. I bought the blu-ray version and she wishes I had bought the regular. The blu-ray she can only watch in the living room. Regular DVD's can be watched viewed in her other rooms and computer. I think the product compares very well with others. I was not aware of the technical viewing situations between regular and blu-ray and what she had in mind for her personal use.
