When Magic meets Blu Ray
I had purchased each of the Potter films as soon as they hit the store shelves. I had not yet committed to buying on blu ray yet, as I was trying to wait for that one big magical set at the end of the rainbow. Well, after seeing the release of HBP on Blu Ray DVD combo I couldn't wait. This set is definitely worth the purchase. Though a little short on new special features the quality of the picture transfer made the films come alive again. I have kept my dvd copies for the simple reason that I love my special features and the blu ray has left room for improvement. However, this will more than hold me over til the rest of the Ultimate Editions come out. It's an inexpensive way to catch up on your blu ray collection. The world of Harry Potter comes to life in vivid HD with this set. If you're a harry fan like me, then this BD collection is a must. The picture quality and HD sound is so much better than conventional DVD's, and it really brings all the special effects to life. All the magic and associated graphics are captured and maximized, and the story really comes to life. This is a must-have for any Harry fan with a Blu-Ray player. It's best if you run it via an HDMI cable to a 1080p HDTV. That's the set up I have and it's awesome - especially with the crisp 5.1 Dolby Digital going via the optical cable. Keep the Kids Away from Harry
Ah, Harry Potter, the budget "Lord of the Rings" series. Although shallow as literature, Potter movies are certainly exciting. The real problem with Harry is the movie's incitement toward witchcraft. If you're one of the 1 in 100 who step into these practices because of Harry's tempting stories, don't expect to finish well like he does. Real witchcraft leads to real evil, and people who get mixed up in it really change. "Years One to Five" is yet another doorway into a haunted, dark life. Better to stick with Frodo. Now all I have to do is get a Blu-ray machine!! I love the scenery and the details of the films; I can just go to another 'place' when I'm reading or watching the books/movies!
