Excellant multi function capability
I have had a VRVD640G for a couple of years and liked it enough to buy another one. It meets my needs well with it's multi function capability. While I don't consider myself an audiophile, I do appreciate good sound. Mostly I use the Stereo features. Sound is better than my stock radio with the stock speakers. Radio reception is good. USB input is great for putting music on a thumb drive. Files show up with a typical folder menu and any types of formats (audio, video, image, etc.) it recognizes can be played this way. It also has an SD slot that does the same. All functions can be controlled via the touch screen/buttons or with the included remote. GPS has good reception and software is mostly intuitive with customizable parameters. If a route is active and you add a another POI (like a ... Best to bring the route up and insert a destination. The GPS will run in the background and interrupt to let you know a turn is coming up. I also have GPS on my Android phone and they get comparable results. DVD plays well although the screen is small. Too small to see from more than a few feet much like the new smart phones. For frequent use I would suggest adding a bigger monitor which it does support. The nice part is the sound that plays though the car speakers. Even hooked the play-station up to it and that worked great although screen size was an issue. DVD will also play CDs but I find the USB more useful for playing music due to the larger capacity. Lot's of flexibility with hooking it up to interface with other electronics (amps, displays, inputs, outputs, etc). My only complaint with it is that it does not have blue tooth although there may be a way to add that on as an input. All factors considered it provides a lot for the money - two thumbs up !!

This stereo is a good deal considering the price. It has alot of options, and sounds great for the price. Is as easy to install as any standard stereo, so if you have put in a car stereo before this will be just as easy for you. The GPS seems to be very accurate, and has many voice options. However it does have one drawback if you are going to use the GPS on a daily basis, because you have to agree to the distraction warning every time that you open the GPS feature. Also I might add, that if you are using a portable GPS, this system's GPS menu layout may take some getting used to. All is all, this stereo has many features, it would be hard to beat in it's price class. ( 140.00 class) The one feature that seemed to be overlooked in the design of this stereo is the hands free blue ... This stereo is a good deal considering the price.
