Every one will be defective right out of the box.
Too many dots on the platter, for 33 rpm at 120V and 60 Hz. This will make verifying the speed using the supplied strobe virtually impossible here in North America. That is the defect. Victrola won't even admit it, but it's true! In Europe, on the 50 hz. Euro Voltage, the number of dots for strobe verification is correct. OK, this component, is definitely deficient in quality. This Budget Belt Drive unit is trying to ape the Technics and the Audio Technica DJ which are direct drive. So, you will see the similarities in appearance. But that's about it. Yes, it does have a strobe, yes it does have cueing, yes, it has an S shaped tone arm, yes it does have anti-skate adjustment. it has a switchable built in preamp. It has 78 rpm speed, so if that's important to you, get right type of stylus for that application. It your looking for a quality listening experience on a budget, this is it!

Great beginner turntable yet its not perfect
A great belt-drive turntable! It has a built-in preamp, an Audio-Technica cartridge/stylus, and even has a USB port to plug into a computer! However, despite its greatness, I hear a faint electrical noise when listening to a record using the built-in preamp. Its most audible during the quiet parts of a record. Also, it has a hollow frame so any finger taps or dust-lid closing will be bounced back into the playback of a record so that's a bit annoying. It's best if you get it on sale as a refurbished unit (like I have) because I doubt it would sound better at full price (which around 200 USD)A great belt-drive turntable! PERFORMANCE STUNNER AND GREAT PRICE
It performs well without hum or distortion when playing a record. Very smooth and well made. Plus a diamond stylus is the best for long term use. Other turntables do not offer the featrues that this turntable does including bluetooth and a preamp output setting.

Not as good as they look.
Bought 2 of them and right out of the box, 1 of them the 33 speed was not correct at zero position and there is no way to adjust like decent turntables. The other turntable was not correct at any speed and stopped after a few seconds. The head shell is not removable so you're stuck with the needle supplied. Made in China junk.
