If you are looking for base, look no further. Note: these headphones definitely need an amp. I have not bought an amp yet. When playing from a computer, desktop or laptop, the mids and highs drop when the bass kicks in. I assume this is because I do not have an amp or dedicated sound card and my computers built in sound equipment do not put out sufficient power for these headphones. The SZ200 are nice and entertaining to listen to even without an amp, but I have to buy it sometime in the future to get their full potential out.If you are looking for base, look no further. Lots of bass, as wanted. Shallow pads, so effectively on-ear.
I bought these headphones for both the sound quality and the bass, and they deliver on both. Although the headphone pads are over-ear, they are not very deep at all, so the speaker meshes sit against your ears, which makes them effectively an on-ear pair of headphones. They are very comfortable, initially, but, after long periods, like all on-ear headphones that rest against my ears, I find they make my earlobes ache a bit. Incredible bass potential.
A powerful Amp an some EQ is all that's needed. These things get Low, and back it up with some intense kick. I've never heard anything like them! It's not just bass either. Soundstage and higher frequencies are also great!
