I give it a four star, because there is a song or two I don't like that much. I wont say which, but the psychedelic stuff is some of my favorite Floyd tracks. It's worth it overall but if being critical suffers from some youthful ideas. All the early stuff has one or two clunkers until about '70. Still a great band and worth collecting them all.

The ultimate acid rock album
If you're looking for an album with the basic themes for sex, drugs, and rock & roll rebellion, well you've found it here. Pink Floyd has always been a theme-based band, sending out a subliminal message(s); in this case, this album is a movie soundtrack for the then-rated X movie of the same title, about a teenage European hippy-couple experimenting in all the things that the hippy-rebellion was about during the late 60s. The movie would probably be rated R (actually it's rated NA) nowadays; but the album is rated PG by me; so your momma won't get upset & your daddy won't come in & stomp on your CD with his cowboy boots; but it'll still be a bit wierd to them, since they were more used to the disco crap back in those days. This album was performed by Pink Floyd, but was directed by some French Dude that also was the director of the same said movie. As he selected their songs for his movie, he's been quoted as saying things like, "It sounds too sad. It makes me feel like I'm in Church;" (make sure you hear that quote in your mind, with a heavy French accent). So bear that in mind, as you're listening to this one, it's a soundtrack for a movie theme that you're listening to, so you're only getting half the picture. Pink Floyd will get on to doing bigger & better things, so this is just a prerequisite sampling to future projects; including a movie & soundtrack of their own making & inspiration. Enjoy this one with your tongue in your cheek, but don't stop here; continue onward with your Pink Floy quest & do so, soberly & with your sanity completely intact, because that's all you need to thoroughly enjoy Pink Floyd's music & nothing more is necessary.

This is a soundtrack album from a film of the same name. It is their first album without Syd Barret and features Gilmour on all lead vocals. This album contains rock ballads, instrumentals and some ambient music in there too. However, the best way to describe this album is either acid rock, progressive rock, and space rock. Positives: The tunes are very nicely composed and feature very subtle use of cacophony and atonality used in other Floyd albums. The tunes are very mellow, but also moody and electric, and still echo "A Saucerful of Secrets" and hints of "Meddle" and "Atom Heart Mother" are also present. So, if you love any of these albums, "More" is for you! The songs "Cirrus Minor," Green is the Colour," "The Main Theme," and "Up the Khyber" simply rock. Negatives: There is not much ... More is one of Pink Floyds most underrated and least known albums. It's really hard to figure out exactly what to compare it to in their vast catalogue because it kind of has a style all of it's own. For the most part it's more mellow and less psychedelic than other projects but the strange dreamy feel is still intact. This probably won't appeal much to those who only like the popular albums (Piper, Dark Side, The Wall) but if you love all the less popular stuff you will certainly like this one too. 4 Stars.More is one of Pink Floyds most underrated and least known albums. The soundtrack to 'More' is on of the best of Pink Floyds early albums. Mostly obscure, and unknown, it deservs more attention. Ballets like; 'Green is the Colour, and 'Cymbaline should be classics. 'The Nile Song has got some play among casual fans and it should. Overall, The soundtrack to 'More' is a great album, and is a must for all 'Floyd fans.
