    Great camera for any age!

I bought my 1st SD800 IS in 2007 and have used it ever since as a back up for my DSLR during my travels o US and Europe. Its a great camera! While 7.1 MP is pretty small by today's standards, most people don't enlarge their photos past 8x10 if they enlarge them at all. The 3.8x zoom s perfectly adequate for most photos and better than on most phones. I have purchased two of these on eBay for my grandchildren because if one is accidentally dropped over the side of a ship, it's a much smaller loss than an iPhone!

  • Sturdy, quality parts, compact, and takes great pics!

This is a great little pocket sized camera with a small screen and a viewfinder. My newer Canon PowerShot A4000 is larger, with cheaper components than the older Elph SD800 IS. The Elph SD800 has been a fantastic camera and takes great photos. Although the megapixels and zoom are smaller than most newer cameras, I still find this camera takes great photos. Also, the battery life is phenomenal! I took this camera to Europe and didn't have to charge it once! I love having the viewfinder. You can see the zoom through the viewfinder. This is a great asset, as most newer cameras have eliminated viewfinders in favor of larger screens. I broke the screen on my Elph SD500, and the viewfinder was a life saver! Definitely recommend this camera as a great value. Sturdy, quality parts, ...

  • Excellent camera. Lots of features but you don't have to be a pro to use it

I bought this camera for my husband. He lost his other camera--same model. He'd bought a new Cannon to replace the lost one and didn't like the lack of a viewfinder. Fortunately we found the older model available on eBay. It takes very good pictures, is compact and easy to use. He loves it. Many of the new cameras lack a viewfinder. We both like having that feature although I mostly use my Cannon digital SLR for photography. The PowerShot is much easier to carry, fits easily in a handbag or clipped waist. I'm borrowing it to take to California next week. Leaving my SLR home as I don't want to have to stow it on the plane.

  • Great Compact Digital Camera

An excellent small conpact camera. Best portable camera I ever had and was my go to before smart phone cameras took over. I like them so much, I just had to buy another. Compact, easy to use, great image quality.

  • Great images and videos with this wide-angle lens Canon

This was my first digital camera, and I purchased a second SD800 as a back-up. I love the wide-angle lens and distortion appears minimal in the landscape shots. While processing photos for sale listings, I did find that boxy or square items would show some distortion. If you use Adobe Photoshop, distortion is easily removed using Filter Distort Lens Correction. Photo quality is excellent and there's a macro setting which yields good detail for close-ups. I'm happy with the video quality as well. IS (image stabilization) eliminates any shakiness. The settings I normally use were pretty easy to learn and there are some functions I still haven't tried. The only thing I miss is getting the instant action shots, as there is shutter lag typical of point-and-shoots. Until a compact, ...
