I like the Alpine CDE-100 in certain applications. I bought this one for a vehicle I drive in winter, an old 1991 Sonoma. I have 4 decent aftermarket speakers in factory dash and C pillar locations, a small amp on a bazooka tube with a 6.5” USA made Bumper Sub from Brad Newsome in KY. I had a fancy Pioneer mechless unit in there...and although it sounded Great, it wasn’t very easy to change stations or see as well in bright sun and snow. So I put the old reliable Alpine model cde-100 in Again, I’ve probably used this model in a dozen installs, and my Sonoma seems simple again. This Alpine doesn’t have as much tonal control as I’d like but it’s so easy to use for just a radio listener, it’s worth it. Plenty of power for my 4 small speakers to overcome road noise, but I am changing amps to get more control of the lows to tune that better. In closing I recommend this unit if your application calls for an easy to use, basic but good, reliable unit. It allows usb input but doesn’t play my iphone6 unless you use aux, won’t charge a phone either, fyi. There is no sub control just a rear rca output pair so expect to control your sub externally. For the price I paid it’s great quality for dirt cheap so hopefully my experience helps. Great unit for grandma or a work vehicle, not a good choice for the audiophile. Great entry level deck! Nice sounding, ultra simple to use. Louder than my old Alpine it just replaced, I do somewhat miss the classic green lights of the Alpines of olde. Really no complaints here, just a solid deck that does as it's told. I think if I bought one again i'd probably get the next model up that will control an ipod with the deck though. This one will sort of flip through the folders but you can't tell what song/artist is what and it always goes to limp bizkit for some reason. I think this is probably more apple trickery than defect as this deck is not intended to control the ipod but you can charge it through the usb port and plug in the aux input and the same time.
the ALPINE CDE-100 is just about everything i expected. i installed it in my 2007 MITSUBISHI with POLK AUDIO speakers. i use it with a first-generation IPOD NANO. after playing around with the settings it sounds great, just like i wanted. the display is easy to read. the controls are very easy to use. the auxiliary & USB controls are fast and easy to use, too. five outta five, in my opinion.
This little car stereo is EXCELLENT! Bought it as a birthday gift for my teenage daughter, and after I installed it, I liked it so much I've considered getting one for myself! It is attractive, and the sound is quality (even with factory speakers!)
nice player
