    Happy to recommend this product.

    Easy enough to set up and use, allowing for the fact I'd never had a sat nav before. I found the directions (while driving) clear, plentiful, and easy to understand, and there were various useful pieces of information onscreen that I wasn't expecting, but appreciated. Very happy with my first satnav! (Got it for £30 secondhand, so particularly happy with the price!) My only grumble/complaint is that I can't make it stick to the windscreen where I'd want it (probably my fault!) so I've stuck it to the fascia with Blutak!

    Self updates to destruction!

    I have had one of the original ONE tom toms for many years which worked faultlessly. As it is no longer supported with map updates I had to buy a new model. The first one was faulty - screen was very dim all the time - so the dealer refunded me. This one I got on eBay from Argos (very efficient process I may say) and it was OK when collected it and opened it. Took it home and downloaded the new Tom Tom software from their site to my PC then connected the Start 42 to the PC. The software said there were multiple updates needed, so I clicked to install them all. The updates failed repeatedly. I have tried everything - reinstalling the software on the PC. Restarting, rerunning - nothing works. I now have a Sat Nav with NO maps at all - just fantastic. Each time it tries to update the map ...

    Too small. Too difficult to operate

    I’m disappointed with this TomTom. I bought it to replace a Garmin and wish I hadn’t. The screen detail is poor, the touch screen is slow to respond and the maps are not detailed. The colour scheme is rubbish and hard to see. All in all I wasted my money and will buy another Garmin.
