About this product

Product Information

Overkill is an over-the-top, B-movie, pulp fiction-style take on the House of the Dead series. Played from a first-person perspective, the game's seemingly simple goal is to shoot at the zombies, mutants, and other unearthly horrors that come into view, before they can get close enough to take a bite. The lead character quips sardonic comments and macabre jokes, and innocent civilians flee the carnage as he blasts a swath of righteous gore through the writhing hordes. The play mechanics are of the on-rails shooter style used in other House of the Dead games.

As in the well-received House of the Dead 2 & 3 remake for Wii, players aim and fire using the Wii Remote, while their characters automatically move forward through the level, pausing at key locations for special challenges and scripted events. The action is set to a rousing pace, with swarming undead and surprise attacks to keep the tension on edge. The motion-sensitive controls also play a role when the creepies get too close for comfort: with a swing of the controller, players can pistol-whip a zombie or smack back a mutant with the stock of their shotgun. Two-player cooperative play is supported, for side-by-side shooting.

Overkill is a parody of the grind house genre, lots of cursing, its corny, sexy, and weird

I love this game, a parody of grind house and literally was the apple of my eye growing up. If little me could see me dressing up in dumb outfits just to look dumb while playing this game, she be so happy and proud. So much cursing, it used to hold the record for most profanity in a game. I am so happy I was able to get this game after years of watching others have fun. I hope I can get a girlfriend that looks like Carla, if not I guess I'll have to be the one. This game is easier than others once you get used to the slightly different aim system, but its still fun easy to pick up and down, just a overall fun time if you don't take everything so seriously(because its not).

  • Fun Shooting game, wholly inappropriate for children

House of the Dead, Overkill is a reboot of the House of the Dead Franchise. It does feature G from previous House of the Dead games and is an arcade shooter in the same vein as the previous House of the Dead games. That being said, this game takes a Quentin Tarrantino, dialogue driven approach, where the developers went out of their way to include cursing and nasty comments. It is supposed to be set up like some '70s B-movie, and that part of the game was novel and sort of funny. I myself did not mind the cursing and thoroughly enjoyed playing this game solo and with friends, but then again, I don't have children. You will find this game to be a bit too short and a bit too easy to complete, but it does have replay value and a harder difficulty setting. The mini games are nice, but ...

  • A fun game, and parody of 70s horror, but not for everyone.

Coming off the Grindhouse craze of Death Proof and Planet Terror, Sega made this game in the same style of 1970s Grindhouse trash. And if you're a fan, of either Grindhouse movies or House of the Dead, you may want to check this game out. However, the game can offend some people, with the Samuel L Jackson wannabe spewing obscenities every couple of seconds, the dark sense of humor, and some of the gross out moments (especially near the end). If you can be easily offended, this game may not suit you. But, keep in mind, this is true to the style of the 70s horror cash ins. The game also has touches that call back to cheesy movies, from the horrible stereotyped villain, the running gags (what dose that "G" stand for anyway?) scenes that aren't consistent with each other (the scene where ...

  • Wii Zapper & House of the Dead 'Overkill'

House of the Dead: Overkill Game lives up to it's hype for classic House of the Dead zombie FPS games. Music tracks are fantastic and game the story-line game play schema is great. The creators successfully captured the grainy film sequences to enhance the nostalgic effect. Wii Zapper: Good product and makes FPS game play more authentic. I noticed that use of rechargeable batteries from NYKO will cause the Wii Zapper triggers lose sensitivity. I have to squeeze the trigger harder to shoot, which isn't ideal. This is likely because the battery covers from NYKO, which I use, are a little thicker in width than the standard batter cases, which causes the Wii Remote to sit differently in the Wii Zapper case. I've switched back to the original standard batteries for use with the Wii Zapper.

  • Did He Just Say That?

I love first person shooters and super gory zombie action, so this game was right up my alley. They could have toned down on the F-Bomb a little bit, not that I've never used the word, but this was a little over the top. I beat the game in about six hours, but unlocked a bunch of cooler levels to explore on my next go-round with HOTD: Overkill. Liked the pace of the game, although it did get a little glitchy during the boss level fight scenes. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'll give it an 8 for great fun and head popping action. I would reccomend this game for FPS fans and zombie lovers.
