The Shure SM57 and SM58 sit in the sweetspot when it comes to live vocals, mic’d instruments and even studio recording. Both are super road-worthy...and can survive a beating. While the SM 58 is the primary choice for many live vocalists, the Shure SM 57, in addition to being great for vocals, is an extremely common choice for miking instruments… Including drums. If you could only afford one microphone for all intents and purposes… It would be one of these two.

What more can you say about the Shure SM57 instrument microphone. They are the industry standard and they last. They produce a great quality sound for a gig or recording session. These are my go to instrument microphones. I purchased them at the best price possible on eBay, you won’t find a better deal online or anywhere. AWESOME!!

Sound quality is amazing for instruments! I am a French horn player and it captures my low range and does it justice. For spoken word this gets the job done, but I actually prefer the PylePDmic78 for my voice in particular (the $15 version of this mic) however, this microphone captures the authentic sound of horn better than the PylePDmic78. Highly recommend this to brass players if they have the budget!

Very easy to use. With the right cables, it plugged directly into my computer without needing additional phantom power.

Standard mic for loud sounds. I use it for recording guitar amps at loud volumes to saturate the tubes. It works great. For the price, it is a must have for any studio.
