Great product, brand new, great prints; but not very great when duplexing.
Brand new product. Great print quality, but one has to jump through hoops for it to print PDF's double sided.This I did not know. This little hiccup makes this printer a little less than the Epson Artisan 837. So, if you have to print a lot of PDF's like I do, the printer will work double sided for some and will not print double sided for some others and when you call Epson, the makers of this printer, they will refer you to Acrobat as if it is acrobat that you did business with buying the printer. To overcome this problem, I had to buy another printer, Epson Expression XP 7100, which is actually the newer version of Epson Artisan 837. Far cheaper than this printer, but it prints great and duplexes great scanning and printing without me jumping through hoops.Brand new product. So far I'm satisfied.
Got this today. Limited testing. Haven't tried faxing or scanning. I did print on two CD's (one white and one silver), both looked good...only tried text, no graphics or photos on the CDs. I printed a couple of multipage documents from WordPerfect, and they looked just fine. I took a couple of those pages and ran them through the 835's document feeder and photocopied them. Looked like the originals. I printed one photo image. There was a white border on one side and at the top, but not a big deal, because the image wasn't in the proper 4x6 format to begin with, and I didn't bother with any photo editing prior to testing the print...I just wanted to see how it did, and it did fine...besides a pair of scissors would fix the white borders. I connected it first to my desktop using the old printer cable from my old computer, then also set up the wireless feature with two laptops. All three were able to send test print pages to the printer with no problem. I've also read where others were complaining about the paper tray and paper catcher being flimsy as well as the CD tray being flimsy and not coming out far enough...and yes, these are valid concerns, but if you take a little care with this printer, i think they'll be fine. I would recommend closing the paper catcher when not using the printer to prevent accidents from happening...just remember to pull it back out when printing or else it'll dump your documents on the floor (or in my case, directly into the trash can that is right below the printer).

I bought this printer because the Kodak one I had was awful and quit working. I print crosswords and photos and a few documents. This new printer by Epson is very much better than the one I had. There are a few cheap plastic parts that I don't like and am waiting for them to break, mainly the paper catcher. It must be pulled out and there are three connected parts to it. I must jiggle the second part from side to side to get it to come all the way out. That is irritating, but I can live with it. The photos are ok. I expected better quality from this printer, but I'm not using Epson's photo paper yet. I using up HP paper, and, honestly, they are nice enough. I want to be blown away for this price, and I am not. All in all, it has performed well, it is just cheaply made in places. ... I bought this printer because the Kodak one I had was awful and quit working. Awesome Printer
Some of the ink cartridges were very low. I was afraid those print heads may have clogged, lucky they were OK. Replaced them all with Ink Owl refillables. I also installed a exterior waste ink tank. The printer now prints great, the six print heads and 5760 x 1440 DPI doesn't hurt.
