PlasmaCAM Manual Torch to Machine Torch Change Over-A Breeze
I took Jim Colt's advice on one of his forum pages and changed my PlasmaCAM table from manual to machine torch. I machined an aluminum torch holder similar to a picture I saw on Google Images with similar dimensions to the position of the manual torch holder sold by PlasmaCAM. The torch projects out about 2 inches more than the manual torch, but that doesn't interfere with the torch placement using the Design Edge software. I changed the wiring and CPC connector from manual to machine torch on my Hypertherm Powermax 65 as instructed in the directions that came with the voltage divider kit I bought from a local welding supplier. That change required about 20 minutes of work changing out two wires and two small connectors. Too make things even simpler and quicker, I bought the ... The cable was pretested before shipping so that made it even a more reliable change-over. Now I can use the manual torch on the table by just changing torch cable connectors. I am very pleased with the whole project and the PlasmaCAM machine now seems to work even better.
