Easily sharpend, easily dulled?
Can't attest to the edge holding ability yet; just received. Fit and finish are both great, as usual, for RR knives. Strong springs and no wobble. If the carbon steel has any proper heat treat it should out perform their stainless blades, which are average for edge retention. I could do without the double nicks and bolster emboss, and would like to see some other scale choices, but I wanted carbon and this is the offering. My other Rough Riders are great EDC knives for their price point, just can't expect them to hold thru a long or difficult cutting task without tending. I've been a collector/user of blades for over half a century and carry mostly premium steel. Not Perfect But Good Enough For Work
I bought a RR brown stag bone folding hunter a week or so ago. It was a very well made, beautiful and functional knife; not perfect but for the price it was great. I decided I wanted to try out a largeish RR carbon knife for a work knife so I picked up this "yeller" folding hunter. The fit and finish was not great. There was a very noticeable gap in the skinner blade back springs and there was a very slight side to side blade play in the clip blade but nothing major that would make me want to go through the hassle of a return for a knife that I just need to be functional. It came very sharp and ready to work right out of the box. The spring for the skinner blade is a little stiff and there was a little grit in the joints but it will probably break in given some time.
