I removed the legs/pot-rests and fitted my Dragonfly to my modified SeaSwing gimbal on my boat. I run mine on low sulphur road diesel, the cheapest fuel readily available to me. I also preheat with alcohol, even though you can use the stove's own fuel for that. It makes less startup soot that way. The channels in the side for the legs are great for driving mounting screws into without drilling. I used them for anchoring the legless stove to the aluminum mounting plate I had to add to it. All that rigamarole is only necessary because it is on a boat, and boats are both bad places for a runaway stove, and sometimes have a violent motion to them with no timeout for when you need to cook. CO production is about the same as my well tuned and modified pump stove. As long as the hatch is open, my alarm never goes off. With the hatch closed I can easily boil water for coffee or noodles without setting the alarm off, but more involved cooking requires opening the hatch. The flame is VERY adjustable, even better than my pump stove that I modified with a 207 type adjustable burner. The Dragonfly will simmer for hours without going out. The only reasons I didn't give this excellent stove 5 stars is because for my use the external fuel bottle is a PITA upsetting the balance of the gimbal, and I would really like to see a proper spirit cup instead of the wick arrangement. For campers I don't see any reason why this isn't a 5 star stove. It is WAY better for proper cooking, as opposed to simply heating water for tea or ramen, than the much admired WhisperLite. If somebody were to steal this stove from me, I would be ordering another one within the hour. Great backup to my main stove.Read full review

It is small and light. It is easy to setup. It is great to cook with. It works for all my outdoor cooking needs. What more could you ask for?

A real work horse for winter camping. Great at boiling water, and since it can simmer, it's a good choice for cooking meals which require lower heat. It is noisier than a Whisperlite which can't simmer.

I chose MSR because once you are in the wilderness there is no substitute for good quality and the price to pay for low quality is high in the long term. That is true for any item you carry with you. I chose MSR because of the proven quality and performance over many years of use in all kinds of conditions.

MSR Dragonfly fly stoves are the very best on the market. The pre-owned one I purchased recently could not be better; it's in excellent condition!
