Excellent telephoto lens! Really sharp images when shot wide open. Bokeh is amazing. Lens got internal focusing mechanism, so no weight changes when focusing, which is very useful thing when it comes to 200mm lenses. If you want to have fast 200/2.8 this lens is for you. Just make sure you know how to use Canon FD mount. If lens mount converted to EF mount for Canon EF, EF-S mount cameras, lens just shine on Canon DSLRs Absolutely would recommend to my friends.
I am going to use this as an auto guider scope for my telescope. the images are crystal clear and 200 mm is all I need to pick out a star to guide on. the seller listed this as mint, and boy did he deliver! the lens looked as if it had never been used and everything worked on the lens as designed. will do business if the need exists for something better. I am very happy with my purchase.

I used one of these for many years on a New F1n and a T90, mostly shooting motorsports. It was lighter than the hunkier 1.4, and way less expensive. Great sharpness, never a problem, easy to carry, too. Highly recommended. I foolishly sold it when I went digital, but now I'm looking for another.

Yes it is. I'm sure others have raved and if you go to the sports photography web site...SportsShooter..they will all tell you this is the best. Canon stopped making them apparently due to the lead required to make the glass. In low light...nothing can beat this lens hands down. Slap a 1.4x extender on it and you have almost a 300mm lens with f2.5. If you can find one in good condition...it is well worth the money.
