Good as an adjunct to a standard flute. Great fun.
It has good tone and is very light, but it is impossible for me to reach the very highest couple of notes as well as the very lowest. That being said, it is a welcome addition to my flute arsenal.

It's very good. It speaks very well. The sound is very different from a metal flute; it's kinda wooly and sweeter. Kinda reminds me of a baroque flute. Low notes (C4-F4) are not very responsive to tonguing but they speak well. You can't push too much with the air in the low register but that's fine. In my opinion, this flute is better suited for beginners, novice players or people who play outdoors frequently - like me. It's water resistant, you can wash it (yes, you read that correctly, you can WASH it with WATER) and is very durable and built tough enough so that it can endure a lot. Version One was not a good student flute
I just noticed that this Nuvo is the Version 2. The Version One is NOT a good student flute. I have been playing and enjoying my metal flutes for years. On my Nuvo Blue Version One when using normal fingering I am not able to play the low E, D or C notes. The problem is a weak spring that allows leakage of air from the pad that covers the G sharp hole on the underside of the flute. I am 6’ 3” with large hands. If I use my right thumb to hold down the G # pad then I am able to play the lower E and D notes. (But still not the low C). The idea of this flute was good. I hope the weak springs problem from Version One was fixed.. But buy a metal flute to learn on anyway and avoid any possible frustration from not being able to play the low notes.
