this seems to be a good pre amp a little quiet than the one I had before but the headphone jack is a big plus, also invest in a better set of tubes, the ones that come with it are fine but if you shop around you can find ones that will fit your listening taste better.

Underpowered
If you have a 'bad' Phono input on your receiver, it allows you to by-pass that, and run your TT thru this preamp, then 'in' to an 'aux' or 'tape deck' IN jacks. Even with a MM cartridge, I use it on MC, because it gives the signal a little more 'boost.' However, all of the hype about tube amps being 'warmer' and more 'well-rounded', is just that. IMO, the pre-amp that's built into my receiver--on 'phono #2'--does a far superior job making the TT 'sound good', than what this thing does.If you have a 'bad' Phono input on your receiver, it allows you to by-pass that, and run your TT thru this preamp, then 'in' to an 'aux' or 'tape deck' IN jacks.
