A fairly new camera and it has the best in body image stabilization until the upcoming G7 comes out later this month (Oct 2016). It is not weather proof, but it is small and very compact. I bought it as a smaller everyday carry camera to supplement my GH4. I does not have as many dials and buttons as the GH4, but it does have a easy to access series of function buttons on the menu that can be configured as you like. The bump out gives a nice handhold. The image stabilization works great, particularly with image stabilized lenses. Be sure up update any of your lenses as they will need it to function better in Dual IS Mode. This feature does not work with every lens. It works with the 14-140 3.5-5.6 (two versions), the 42.5mm 1.2 Nocticron (my favorite lens), the 30mm macro, the 35-100, 28, , and the 12-35mm 2.8, 14-42 3.5-5.6, lenses. The net effect is these lenses work fantastic and allow for lower light performance. In short this camera sets the bar for a new generation of Panasonic cameras it also provides a measure of future proofing. Other features. 4k video and photo, tilt out screen, burst mode, elimination of the anti-aliasing filters--improves sharpness of images, greatly reduced shutter shock, and exotic stuff like post focus. You will want to study the manual carefully. It an be controlled remotely. Wifi allows the down loading of images (jpg). I don't think it works in RAW. I plug in the special USB connector for that. Once you comprehend the power of this camera you will be amazed. The EVF does not tilt and I am happy with the trade off of small size for the tilt screen and fixed EVF. Best it works with a wide array of lenses and the Image Stabilization works with non stabilized lenses like Olympus's 75mm f/1.8. Read full review

I like the small size of the camera and associated lens compared to my full format Sony 7RII. Since I take a lot of wildlife photos with telephoto lenses it is much easier to carry around and point and shoot. It is faster to use and when it comes to shooting wildlife, speed is important.

Camera is easy to use, love panoramic mode. The 12-32 mm Lumix lens I have works well on camera and looks good on compact body.

I bought this as an update to my beloved GX7. Even though it's been around for three years the image quality it still outstanding. Yes, it has the 16MP sensor, but with no low pass filter which makes for very well detailed images. The response to all of the controls is instant compared to the 6-year-old GX7, which had a lag when changing aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation, etc. (my only quibble with the older camera). I prefer the tilt screen to a fully articulated one, but I don't do many selfies or shoot much video. The IBIS is very good, and to my eyes the EVF is pretty good, too. It's not the best in bright sun, but then again the rear LCD is. Very visible on bright days outdoors. It has tons of control customization and a very sensible touch-screen menu. It's the ideal travel and street camera, especially for the price you can buy it now! I also own the G9, but reserve it for the most demanding situations. The GX85 still compares very favorably.Read full review

I got this because I wanted a high quality, light weight camera specifically for photos. As I already have numerous mft lenses for my GH5 this was a no - brainer. I've taken it out a few times now, & the pictures it takes are excellent. Feature-rich, lots of potential for customization, & all - around fun to use.
