About this product

Product Information

Return to the underwater city of Rapture in this anticipated sequel to 2007's critically acclaimed first-person shooter. Set approximately ten years after the events in the original, BioShock 2 casts you in the surprising role of a "Big Daddy," the prototype for the lumbering giants encountered in the first game. Your nemesis is, fittingly enough, a leader of the "Big Sisters," who plans on returning Rapture to its former glory. The Big Sisters are forming a new army of minions by snatching unsuspecting girls from the surface. Your goal is to put an end to the sinister scheme. Unlike the Big Daddies from BioShock 2's predecessor, you are more agile and have the ability to use plasmids to augment your deadly drill and rivet gun.

Thanks to the Big Daddy's distinctive diving suit, you can also explore the briny depths outside of Rapture, but you won't necessarily be alone. Radio communication from Dr. Tennenbaum will keep you apprised of key developments, while Little Sisters can either be harvested for their powers or "adopted." The latter option has them tagging along to warn you of impending dangers or alert you to potential sources for more plasmids. BioShock 2 also features a multiplayer component developed by Digital Extremes. Multiplayer games take place prior to Rapture's fall, offering a new take on a familiar setting. Experience points earned during multiplayer combat can be used to unlock new weapons, plasmids, and gene tonics to customize characters.

  • Intriguing campain and fun online multiplayer

Pros: If you played the first one it is almost exactly like it. Only you do play as a "Big Daddy" in this one and there are improvements. New plasmids, new characters, as well as a new rival to replace what the Big Daddy was in the first one. Cons: Online multiplayer is tricky. Maps are hard to get familiar with. And glitchy. I won't tell any spoilers but if you liked the first one, you'll love the campaign in this. A little knowledge of the first storyline will take you a lot more into it but not completely needed. In this one you find out your own origins as well as the true origins of Rapture and all of it's dirty secrets. The levels are very similar but have changed over ten years and in a different part of Rapture. The new tools, plasmids, and genes make this a very ...

  • decent game

it was a great game although i started out in beginner mode which was extremely easy for somebody who enjoys first person shooters and has played others. (i know i should of took their advice). overall the game is enjoyable, shocking, disturbing and erie. all the things i enjoy in a fps. when you have little 6 year olds harvesting eve (whatever that is) through siringes, well yeah... you get the rest another downfall to this game to me was the inablility to run. i understand your in a 300lb suit but levels that you should be able to pass through with the ease seem to take forever at times. hopefully there is another upgrade that makes you hyperfast that i have missed only beating the beginner mode.

  • Pretty good. But not as good as the 1st.

I liked this game alot. The reason why it got 4/5 is because I think it turned up short when compared to the 1st Bioshock. Pros- Action is intense and amazing. The new abilities like duel wielding a plamid and a weapon are cool. The new weapons are cool as well. Cons- Really no new plasimds. They are much more improved but arnt anything new. No new enemies types as well except a few new big daddies, one or two more splicers and the new big sister. The thing that I dislike the most is the presentation of the story and the game. The 1st game had probably the most amazing openings ever in videogames and there was always a jaw dropping moment around every corner. I can't say there was really that many in this game. Plus their is little to no reference to your character from the 1st game. There ...

  • Its Good But Should Have Been Better

Bioshock I introduced everyone to a dark, gloomy underwater failure at a utopia from the viewpoint of a man. It was exciting, unique, and engaging all throughout and the gameplay was pretty original to me. In Bioshock 2, everything is pretty much the same. It's pretty to look at, but it's the same pretty as the first one. Game mechanics and controls are the same, graphics look a little more crisp (although text can be impossible to read if the TV's not big) but it's not enough to make this visit feel any different from the first. Yes, although different story line, new characters, and a few twists make this newer installation more more enjoyable, it's somewhat of a let down from what was expected to be a new outlook on the world of Rapture when everything seems exactly the same as it ...
