After obtaining 1 new and another used they seem to have the same problem. The only way I knew something was OFF, as I had not yet removed the 13" TV from the kitchen. Comparing picture to picture I found that the image on the ICFs screen was not quite presenting all the material. About 1/8" of the image at the very top and bottom of the screen was 'off the screen'. If there was, say a news banner, it was not viewable. Needless to say if there was a station id logo, you couldn't see it. School closings ticker, forget it. I sent the new one (under warranty) off to Sony and it came back the same. My inquiry to them was answered "there was nothing wrong with it". 1/8" on a 13" screen is o.k. BUT on a 7" screen, you miss alot. Don't try finding the answer in the Sony Service Manual----it's not there, in fact, the manual has some misinformation regarding procedures to put the unit into Test Mode for adjustment. The printed procedure does not even cause the unit(s) to respond. This also, Sony has no answer for. Outside of that, the unit performs admirably. There are spatial settings for the stereo speakers that make anything produced by the unit sound quite good, if not excellant. All in all, if you don't mind missing 'some' of the image on the TV screen, this is a very well designed unit. Add DVD capability and you'd corner the market.Read full review
We purchased the ICF-CD555TV and placed it under the kitched cabinet a couple of years ago. It has a great picture, the timer feature is very handy and sound quality was nice for the size of the unit. We were very pleased with our purchase after a year. Unfortunately our unit decided one day to just melt down. There must have bee some internal short in the circuitry and a portion of the front panel literally melted. Needless to say, the unit died and we had no warranty left. We liked the TV so much though, we bought another one on E-bay. We purchased a 3 year extended warranty this time which will probably insure that the tv will work at least until the warranty expires.
This product is a must have for any kitchen. It is great to have a tv in the kitchen when you spend as much time as I do in one. Due to limited countertop space this is probably one of my smartest buys as far as being practicle. Sure I could have mounted a 42 inch plasma above my stove but for about 3,500.00 less I put a 7 inch lcd tv under my cupboard not to mention it is a cd/radio also. A 7 inch lcd screen just made a little more sense to me. Hey my kitchen is so small the screen is totally proportionate. I now have a good down payment for that Buick Grand National I have been looking at. Only down fall is I wish it was a DVD player as well, but you can't have them all. At least it has the hook ups that you can connect your little portable DVD player to. I would recomend this product. That is why I wish I had 2 kitchens so I could justify buying a second one!Read full review
I owned this same tv for 20 years and loved it. The picture went out, on my original tv, so I bought this as a replacement. It has a great picture and sound. The only downside, the clock doesn't work. I bought a warranty but wonder about actually using it for this.

Excellent television. I purchased this TV after reviewing different undercounter responses of people that had purchased these types of TV's. The picture clarity is excellent, the sound is also excellent for the CD player and radio. I feel I made a very good choice of brand and quality. The only thing if I had a choice (bearing in mind it still doesn't affect my feelings on my purchase) was a preference of black as a color to match the appliances in my kitchen. It does not seem these come in any other color than silver. But overall a great tv.
