The shipping was fast and the lens was very well packed but the lens had a little fungus on it that the seller failed to mention on the item's description. The communication with the seller was excellent and and the return to Japan was fast. Also the refund was made without any problem when the seller received the item back. I will do business with them again in the future.

  • Best value for Canon mount 50mm 1.4

Exceptional color, contrast, quality and sharpness, I compared this lens directly against my 50mm 1.4 and 1.2L lens. By far sharper at 1.4 than both Canon lenses with much less chromatic aberration. The out of focus areas in the image appear smoother than the Canon EF 50mm 1.4 at the same aperture, 2.8 shows smooth out of focus where the Canon shows the 8 blade diaphragm clearly and is not nearly as smooth. The 50L is of course smooth but not as sharp, 1.2 is horrible comparatively. All are about equal at 2.8 as far as sharpness, the big difference is bokeh and for the price the Sigma 50mm 1.4 HSM is easily the winner. My copy only needed a minor AF adjustment and is spot on, I have tried the Sigma 50mm Art lens and do not feel the additional weight and cost is justified. If you can find a ...

  • A Real Gem

Use on Sony A77ii. Shoot mostly family indoors on aperture priority. No flash needed. Also used outdoors at night with little light. Reviewers at Foto Fusion liked photos.

  • The perfect walk-around lens

All the excellent accolades written about this lens on dpreview and other sites are true. I like this lens mostly because when mated to the shake-reducing Sony body, the 1.4 aperture just about allows completely flash-free use. I am so enamoured by the fast aperture, that I now prefer it to my Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 zoom. In fact, I think this lens classifies as Sigma's top performing lens--and I own several, from ultra short to long zooms. Is this lens worth the ~$150 premium over the comparable Sony offering? Yes.

  • Good deal

  • Sigma 50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM LENS for Sony

Great lens on the ff Sony 850. Sharpness, color, contrast and the low light ability of this lens are hard to beat. I have no negatives about this lens. Some people complain about the 77mm filter size but I think that is a small trade-off for the picture quality. Compared against the Minolta 50mm f1.7, Zeiss 135mm F1.8, Sony 50mm f2.8 macro and Sony 28mm f2.8.
