A must for its 5.1 surround mix, but far from excellent
While the stereo mix is famously overcompressed and a painful listen for any extended time, the new loseless 5.1 surround mix is a must for any Clapton fan. Even so, the surround mix is not very inspired. It is basically a stereo mix with some of the instruments also pushed to the back speakers. There is not the same amazing use of discrete instrumentation as in the 2003 "Dark Side of the Moon" surround remix, or anything by Steve Wilson. Also, unlike these other surround remixes, this mix is not particularly faithful to the stereo version we've come to know. NOTE: You'll only be able to listen to the loseless and surround mixes with a nearly obsolete SACD player, or with very specialized hardware. Do not expect that you'll be able to readily rip the SACD layer of this disc to your ...
