like brand new. have used norelco for 60 years. this shaver with new design and blades has reduced my usual "neck burn" from old blades and too much pressure. sideburn trimmer is okay as usual, hard case is nice. i remove blades and take them apart each shave, the old cleaner module was useless. you have to do it yourself. got the old plug in style. why change after 60 years.

I compared both razors side-by-side for two weeks. This is what has generated this opinion. The S 9000 prestige is not compatible with the smart clean system a negative in my opinion. The 9800 series actually shaves me closer than the S 9000 requiring less time and less strokes. Both have about the same battery life. The S 9000 is a good looking shaver but I prefer the 9800.

I have had several different models of Norelco shavers and this by far is the highest quality, best shave, I have ever had with one. The outer casing is very impressive, screen is well laid out, even the sound when you power on, sounds powerful, sounds like a machine starting. The shave itself, is close and thorough. The down side is the price, it is quite expensive new, however since I purchased mine on eBay "open box", I was able to save quite a bit off the regular price. Even in saying that, I still payed much more than the last Norelco I purchased. I do believe with the quality and shave, it's worth it. The only other thing is my last shaver had a charging stand and charging travel case, that we're both very convenient. all you had to do is place the shaver on the stand and it would charge, without having to plug it in every time same with the travel case. I don't know why Phillips Norelco did away with those stands and cases. Even with price, loss of the charging stand and travel case, I am still very happy I decided on this top of the line Norelco shaver. In my opinion, it was well worth the extra money. Read full review

I have had Norelco shavers for over 50 years. This model takes the cake a clean shave with one pass. The design fits well in my hands, I love the locking feature you can turn on when traveling. I swear that TSA turns on shavers on purpose...LOL

I am a safety razor user all my life. I used to watch my Dad shave with an electric razor in the 50's. The when he saw an animated commercial of Santa gliding over snowy hills on the floating heads of a Norelco, he bought one, and never looked back. Now in my 70's I have gotten a little tired of lathering up every morning, so I thought I would give an electric a try. Having been in buisness in the trades, I learned, early on to buy the best. Don't start cheap and waste money. This razor is probably 10 times what my Dad paid for his, but it is worth every penny. It give me a closer shave than the safety razor. I didn't have any irritation or missed spots. I do use a pre- shave. The same one my father used. It has an over-powering smell, but it works. Now I get a really close shave, and I smell like the old man that I am. Clean up is so easy. It only takes a few seconds under the tap. Best buy I have made in a while. Read full review
