Z5U Oldie but goodie
The Sony Z5U 3CMOS camcorder is still relevant after all these years. Nearly top of the line when new, it has aged well because it shoots 1080P, has a great lens and can record with compact flash as well as Mini DV tape. It has professional XLR audio inputs, shoots good in low light and has a nice selection of cinematic picture profiles. Overall an excellent choice for studio production work or field use.The Sony Z5U 3CMOS camcorder is still relevant after all these years. Tape and Card HDV recording
This is one of the last Prosumer type, fixed lens, tape based cameras available. It records HDV to mini DV tape and comes without the card recorder but that can be purchased separately and recommended for card recording option. HDV format is an older format but still has it's place. This camera records to tape for easy storage and back up or to the MRC-1unit that was made specifically for this camera to record to compact flash card. Having the option to record both ways is important if the application requires one or the other. It is extremely good in low light but must be manually controlled or the gain has a mind of its own and footage can look super grainy in a low light environment.
