Our group collectively own one Z90 two NX80's and I just got this AX700. Video quality is just about the same as the NX80 and since we shoot in 4K its about the same as the z90 because the z90 only shoots 16 bit when in 1080 but not 4K. I got a brand new AX700 from a seller at a very good discount off the retail price so I am happy camper. Add a LANC zoom control and and HDMI video transmitter to a livestream video switcher (i.e. ATEM or Yolobox) and it is good to go. We use these units for conferences type settings. We shoot mirrorless (a7siii) for documentaries. P.S. We recommend Doug Jensen's Masterclass in z90, NX80 and AX700 for custom settings.

The FDR-AX 700 is the best video camera that I have owned and used. The picture quality is pristine and the controls are in the best place for ease of use. Though the camera misses some of the bells and whistles that other Sony’s had, this camera more than makes up for these defiance’s in its attributes. One feature that is really nice is the ability to reprogram some buttons that facilitate the use of the camera without needing to go into the menu. I highly recommend this camera for the novice and expert videographer.

I have always loved sony camcorders...This is a great upgrade from the handycam HDR-PJ710V, in which worked out great... I did not give the ax700 a 5 star because of the image stabilization is not good at all, I'm not sure why sony did not install a floating built in stabilization like the handycam I had... also now days, most camcorders don't have the cumbersome lens cap you have to clip on and off, sony has older camcorders that features a automatic lens cover that opens when you turn on camcorder, the video quality is impressive, but the photo is just ok, has only a 14 mega pixel image, should at least be 20, I do most of time leave on automatic mode, the manual works just ok.... I do love the assign button features, in which you can program buttons to your liken, also I love the 2 slot SD card function, the ND built in filters, the S log features in which you can do more color grading or use luts to enhance video, the picture profile is the best, there are so many color filters and settings on each profile, you can adjust colors, filters to your liking and you do not have to depend on post production to get good results, the ease of picture profiles from cinematic looks to gamma and white balances, Kelvin temperature scales, just see what fits your taste... also this has a great 1" sensor, and another favorite, the 273 phase detection makes it easy to touch on areas of the lcd screen to focus, this also has good bokeh effects... I do recommend using some sort of external mic if you want a more professional audio... I do recommend this camcorder, because there is so many features that you can explore, just go on youtube, or just play with it until you figure out what works best for you.Read full review

Fantastic. I need more time and experience with this camera, but I started using Sony digital video cameras twelve years ago to make YouTube vids. This is a big step above my last Sony, but it works very similar. No complaints so far.
