Plays my old Hi8 tapes and seems to be working. My old Canon stopped functioning (something to do with the capacitors and who can fix it?), so the Sony was a good solution. The only thing lacking is an S-video output, but I have a usb converter I will use to upload my tapes.

I have been unable to get the camera to play back my previous tapes which is why I bought the thing in the first place. I wanted to view a box of tapes and convert them to a digital format. I've downloaded a users guide etc. and have followed those instructions but cannot get the camera to "Play". Disappointed I bought it.

I bought this camcorder about 10 years ago, but it was stolen. With all the videos I had shot, I wanted a replacement. The Sony CCD TRV43 is easy to use, has some nice features such as night shot, image stabilization. Although it's big compared to newer models, it's still relatively small and light. It has good resolution and the videos look and sound great. I can easily connect it to my TV or a DVD recorder if I want to transfer the videos to DVD. The battery holds the charge for over 2 hours and is easy to recharge. I'm definitely glad I was able to find this camcorder.
This camcorder was easy to use. It helped that the owner's manual was easy to locate online. I wanted to digitize my Hi8 tapes, and it was fairly trouble-free connecting the camcorder to my laptop using Elgato. The capture process went smoothly.

I needed to transfur tapes to DVD. This is part of my business. I also rent camcorders for Proms, Birthdays, Weddings. This camcorder 8mm is easy to use, need very little explanations, is easy to make copies from for customers. Great starter camcorder for anybody.
