Whistle a Toon
I have two of these; one in my wife's car and one in mine. For whatever reason, mine squawks a lot more (X-band) than my wife's. It may be that there is a different setting within the menu that will eliminate this problem. I must admit that at this point, I have done nothing other than to mount it on the dash and turn it on. The city mode calms it down a bit and so that is what I use. It does seem to pick up the Ka band from parked police cruisers. It also picks up cell phone towers, bridge mounted cameras ? and perhaps cloaking devices on other vehicles or maybe it is their radar detector or vehicle proximity sensor?I have two of these; one in my wife's car and one in mine. Lousy detector, GREAT looking paper weight!
The Whistler XTR-145 was an absolute waste of money. I bought it because it "read good". Tried it out, and when I was directly next to a state trooper that had pulled someone over,it gave a a very short 2-beep indication. When I arrived home, I immediately threw it in the trash. A few days later, I fished it from the trash (having a hard time with throwing money away)and tried it again and again, in every conceivable orientation on my windshield and dash. Again,it would only "BEEP" as I passed within 20'-30' of a radar equiped law enforcement officer. Back in the trash! What I DID get out of it, was an education in the old saying "you get what you pay for". Now I'm reluctant to try another detector of any brand/model.
