Product Information

Dr. Joel Fleishman (Rob Morrow) never wanted to leave New York, but the lure of paying off his medical school bills by working in a remote area seems too good to pass up. However, the quirky citizens and sheer inconvenience of small town Alaska have him pining for the next flight back to Manhattan. Though Joel grudgingly stays, it takes him a while to warm to the climate and the people. Between the town's feisty mayor/pilot Maggie (Janine Turner), ex-NASA astronaut turned pompous millionaire Maurice J. Minnifield (Barry Corbin), and problems adjusting to the cycles of the sun, the weather, and everything else about the wild country, each episode provides a wealth of rich character studies and complex, universally appealing humor. This box set contains all seven episodes from the second season.

    Norther Exposure - the complete second season

    I really liked this series when it first aired. I wondered if it would stand the test of time, so I invested in only the first season originally. I am just as hooked on it now as I was then, and couldn't wait to find the second season (it usually comes on a dvd included with season one, and I couldn't see buying season one for a second time). Very glad to have found this one. I now have seasons 1 thru 4 and am enjoying every segment just as much as I did the first time. The series is funny, irreverent, and a bit philosophical in it's own way. A lot of fun without dirty words, gynocological jokes, or overt sex.

    Some thoughts about Northern Exposure...

    I didn't really become a fan of NE until the third season and I wanted to finally get caught up with Seasons I & II. Now some of the underlying story line has finally come to light for me and now makes the rest of the show more understandable. The plots are mostly predictable, but have situations that can be applied to most any generation and time period - I guess that's why I like it. The deleted and missing scenes that are on this compilation certainly fill-in around the edges. Wouldn't it be nice to have a director's cut with them added!!! If you are a fan, buy this set and all the rest. hotrod_fiat...

    Northern Exposure - The Complete Second Season

    The second season IS a bit short, and the packaging I got did not include the nifty down jacket - but I feel that the quality of the programming more than makes up for these superficial shortcomings. I mean to collect all of the series, since I was still in high school when these came out, & I had to go to bed early on a lot of the nights that it aired, so I have not seen a good half of the episodes. I actually moved to Alaska, looking for Chris In The Morning, but I never found him - but at least I found Alaska! & I will never forget that this amazing show was my gateway to the land of the Midnight Sun.

    Quality television does exist

    It's great to have these long overdue DVD's available. Some of the background music has been altered from the original show in seasons 2 & 3 in the English version for some inexplicable reason but the quality is still there and it's great to see this fantastic ensemble at work again. If you have never seen Northern Exposure you owe it to yourself to see what may be the last truly high quality sitcom to come out of Hollywood, or should I say out of "Alaska". Highly Recommended!

    Pretty good dvd.

    I got this to add to my collection because NE is one of my all time favorite television series. At the time it came out I was busy with college and missed several episodes. I caught alot of them in re-run, but they seem to be out of order. The problem I had with this dvd is that the second season was too short. Also this was listed as a new dvd and appeared to be a previously viewed dvd that was rewrapped.
