Palm Pre, another great palm friend to call my own!
I've had a palm os product in my pocket for over 10 years and still going strong. So after my Palm 755p was looking kinda shabby I opted for something newer, this became the Palm pre. A great phone with the updated OS (now called HP OS due to HP purchasing palm.) The OS is both the greatest and most limiting thing about this phone. The ability to have multiple apps open at the same time and be able to jump in between them so very quickly is amazing and something that only the OS does perfectly compared to everyone else on the market. It's downfall is the lack of developers making apps for it that are compatible with the other two player in the fancy phone division (Iphone and Android) case in point Grocery IQ, an amazing grocery program I can not use and have no comparable program for the ... The palm os does do something amazing, backing itself up incase you loose or destroy your phone. I recently damaged the screen when a tool feel off my work area and struck the screen (killing it), so when i got the replacement all i did was log into the phone using my email account and it brought everything back including programs i had paid for... big smile on that one. The hard ware is amazing, the screen can take a sever beating and still do its job and the keyboard is just the right size to make it easy on your fingers and your pocket when stored. Once again two limitations are the battery life (going from 50% to getting a message your phone needs to be plugged in because it has 10% in a blink of an eye is very frustrating) and the camera on it is not able to read bar codes so many lovable apps that the Iphone and androids have can not be even created for the phone, but other than the far eyed lens the camera on this phone is great. I love my phone and wouldn't trade it for another brand for now, i heard great things about the palm pre2, so i await to have another palm again!

The sliding mechanism for the keyboard has the "oreo" effect when its closed. The phone is encased with plastic making it feel cheap and scratches easily. Other areas where the Palm Pre can't match the competition are; screen size, app selection, and no onscreen keyboard. not perfect, still a great phone!
This a great phone overall, very vivid colors on the screen and and app store of its own. Super easy to text and send pics. Internet is a bit slow compared to apple devices but once you hook up to wi'fi its great. Pros: cheap, vivid screen, easy text and pic mail, easy to use, very stylish design, touch screen, full key board, gps works great. You can run many apps at once. in between: no touch screen keybord but u can literally buy one form the app store for 1$, I never use it thought. No spell check but the epic does have it either. Cons: not as fast as apple (ex:ipod touch and iphone), apps not as great as apples, very quiet ringer (even when at high...when comparing to blackberry. Love my pre
It is a great phone. The OS is what we have all been waiting for. It is smooth well rounded OS that is fantastic at multi tasking. The SDK is very easy to use for developers, so there should be new apps coming shortly after the app store comes out of beta. The only negative thing about this phone is the battery, but honestly I have yet to see a phone with push exchange email that gets great battery life. Under normal use it gets me through the day, but it does need charging every night. Summery- This phone is just what we have been needing. There are some minor things that need to be updated on the OS like some of the settings that I would like to change, but its not a deal breaker. Plus, they have the ability to push new updates when they address issues, so the response time should be ... It is a great phone. The OS is what we have all been waiting for. I went from a Palm Pixi to this Palm Pre I purchased. The Pre is generally a good phone, the ONLY complaint I have about this phone is the length of time it takes to boot. I'm not exagerating, about 5 minutes or so. I have also noticed that the picture quality is not as good as the pixi(grainy), but I wouldn't say bad. Just depends on how important that is to the buyer, I suppose. I like the keypad on the phone being larger than the pixi. Also, the Pre has a Wi-fi switch to turn Wi-fi on and off, which really saves battery life when you're not using this function. Navigating the software is really easy for me, coming from a phone with identical software... The whole reason I went with another Palm is because I really like the WebOS software.
