Great camera for Video and Stills
This is a great camera also the most expensive one I have ever purchased. I have used most of the major brands, Canon, Nikon, Fuji and Sony, and I was a photographer for a while, so I am not a novice. I have a number of lenses from my older Canon camera (starting in 1995), started with film, then went to the SL2 before this. I purchased the EF to R adapter from canon so that I could use all my old lenses. I also purchased a 50mm 1.8 R mount lens from Canon, based on my experience shooting Models. The Camera is great, the menus are not great but are useable. The menus are better than all the other cameras I have used, but still not easy to use. I have had problems with one setting interfering with an other setting. Some menu items are not really explainable even on the Canon web ... This is a great camera also the most expensive one I have ever purchased. The best things to do is to go on Youtube, Jared Polin might be the best one, but there are others that show you how to set up the camera and use it properly. Now as to the EF lenses: The older they are, the less likely you are to be happy with them. I have an old full frame lens f3.3-5.6 28-150mm that works OK but is very noisy and does a fair amount of "hunting". I have the kit lens from my SL2 which is an APS-C camera and the kit lens works flawlessly. I have a Tokina AF-X f2.8 28-70mm which is noisy and again "hunts" for focus randomly if there is not enough light. The one feature that I really love is the Headphone jack. Using the headphone jack allowed me to discover that the Tokina lenses noise was getting into the audio of my video. All the things that you expect from a good $1500 camera body are there, and well executed. The body is heavier that I expected, it has a good Solid metal frame encased in plastic to protect everything. It is targeted more for the "prosumer" than novice, so expect a learning curve and to spend some time getting acquainted with it before you get the best results.

This camera is light years ahead of my D60. Finally I can I can use the aperture, ISO, and aperture settings on the the fly and see how they will effect my shot. There is a long learning curve for menu settings. I love it.
