  • Good if you buy it for cheap.

I wanted a better sound card than my on-board sound chip and I wanted a fiber optic out as my receiver is about 12 feet away, and an analog connection produces line noise. The drivers installed rather easily on my Windows 7 rig, though I didn't like the update software, as it forced you to attend the update of each component. (And there are several.) Creative's sound interface was easy enough to use. As for sound quality, I love music and the card sounds rather nice for just that. Music. While there wasn't exactly a "WOW" factor when compared to my on-board card, there definitely was an improvement in clarity. As for movies though, the card only sounded pretty good. I actually felt my on-board sound sounded a bit more dynamic and less washed out than with this card. I haven't tested it ...

  • Sound card can only be installed with driver disk; online driver incapable

You cannot find a working Creative driver online for this sound card so you must have the disk in order for the driver to install at all. I've scoured the internet and not even drivers from 2008 worked. I went to Frys to repurchase this card so that I had access to the disk. For the price, the trouble might not have been worth it.. As of now, it is working just fine. However, if you run into problems, you can forget calling Creative as they have *terrible* customer service.

  • Excellent audio for its price.

It's a pretty decent sound card. I'm having troubles with Windows 7 x64, every now and then there's a "click" coming out from speakers. And sometimes when I use the optical line in with my Samsung Led TV it hangs out with a loud interference noise that won't go unless I restart my computer. It could be a wire problem and haven't tested it yet, but I think it's the Win7 driver.

  • I would buy one.

This is a great card, I must add a few things: First, to get the microphone to work, you must set a 'flexijack' an optional input that either serves for a mic, or a 'line-in'. Load the latest software, and be sure to install the "Console Launcher" along with the drivers, and control panel app. The adjustment can be made at the Console Launcher, but you must have some speakers plugged in first, otherwise a false positive condition exists, whereas the Console Launcher shows no flexijack feature. With speakers plugged in, run Launcher and select the flexijack feature, it is last on the right. Select 'microphone' for your mic. Additionally, there is an interface for a front panel hookup, which is a no brainer for the mic. Real nice. Card sounds great.

  • Outstanding sound card, and reliable.

I have a desktop computer with Windows 7. My sound card went out, so I purchased Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi PCI (70SB104000000) Sound Card on Ebay. I plugged it in the PCIE slot and I was back computing with sound again. I love the clarity and wide range of sound this card produces. This sound card is by far one of my favorites.
