Great little radio. Decent power and easy to use.

I've had nothing but good luck with this radio. I personally own 4. Shack, Livingroom, Side by side and one in the EMP box with 6 UV-82's. I've purchased 6 others that are installed in friends cabins or side by sides. Using Chirp software they are easy to program. I've not had swr issues. Yes they are inexpensive. I've had the one in the side by side bounce out of the mount with no issues, so they appear robust. Speaker is a bit tinny, but not any more so than two of my ICOM 2 meter units. For the cost of one Icom or Yaesu or Kenwood, you can buy three of these and have comms in multiple locations. Yes, on a scope they are a bit messy frequency wise. But can you talk? Yes Receive? Yes. Will it break the bank? No. With a quality base antenna I'm hitting a local repeater 64 miles ...

  • Happy with my choice for a base station 2 & 0.7 m transceiver.

Happy how easy it is to work with and program. Only problem is the way the color changes on the frequency display once in a while without an apparent reason. Never affects the operation.

  • Betech 50x2

Easy to program using Rt systems software. It has all kinds of adjustments in the setting menu. Good dual bander for the price.

  • Great, except when it smokes!

This radio performs well, when it works. It is NOT a very robust radio. If the standing wave ratio (SWR) of your antenna system deviates above about 1.5:1, you may smoke the transmitter. I tried really hard to have quality cables, weather proofed connections, and a quality antenna for which I measured a SWR of 1.4:1 or 1.04:1, depending on technique. Apparently, three times the SWR deviated above 1.5:1, and the transmitter burned up. Maybe it was moisture on the antenna? The cost of this radio is 1/4 to 1/3 of a comparable, quality radio. You probably will end up spending the extra money in the long run, like I did.
